Celebrating the confirmation of a release date, Electronic Arts have revealed a new trailer for The Sims 3: Island Paradise."
"The rating system allows you to keep track of what visitors like and dislike about your resort. It uses a similar format to travel or review sites, where each visitor that decides to can leave a star rating review, as well as complain about things they thought were lacking (noted in the live broadcast, visitors really wanted a hot tub). This feature will allow you to grow and develop with a purpose, rather that simply adding things that you want to see."

"Yesterday at EA’s Summer Showcase, they announced the latest expansion for the ever-popular Sims franchise, this expansion brings weather changes to The Sims 3 and much more in The Sims 3: Seasons.
EA showcased a ton of new activities at the show yesterday, as players can take their Sims for a swim in the ocean, exploring a previously unreachable part of the world as they cool down on a hot summer day or take the polar bear plunge by venturing into wintry waters. Sims can also build skill..."
"Electronic Arts has released a video parodying the Jubilee celebrations of The Queen. See Her Majesty parades the streets in her latest two-piece, joined by her loving family. See what antics Harry gets up to, witness the Kate Middleton style effect on the nation and spend hours hitting pause and rewind on what has become the world’s most adored behind."
"I was trawling through the draft articles on the site this week and found something I wrote last summer at the height of the riots in the UK. I do not know why this article never made it to be published, but I imagine it was because of laziness, holidays or generally because the riots ended before I made my point. Whatever the reason, prepare for a trip down nostalgia avenue where London is on fire and videogames are being used as a scapegoat for anarchistic behaviour."
"Last week, video game publisher Electronic Arts launched copies of their science fiction game Mass Effect 3 into space as part of a promotion for the final installment in that massively popular science fiction trilogy. Today they announced that they will continue shooting video games into space, starting with The Sims 3 Showtime Katy Perry Collector’s Edition."
"Steampowered.com is permitting customers to play the co-op online zombie survival game Killing Floor for free this weekend. Although this may appear to be overt Communist activity on American soil, it is actually a marketing tactic to entice customers into buying the game, which is on sale at 75% off for five dollars through this weekend."
Raptr, the leading social network for gamers, has released a new Raptr Report focusing on EA's blockbuster social game, The Sims Social. This report looks at EA's potential to dominate the social gaming space, how it captured more than 66 million players, and what EA learned from the king of social gaming, Zynga.
"Story in games have become completely different than they once were. When you think of series like Fallout and Mass Effect, a lot more is in your hands than Pac-Man ever had in his... uh... mouth? The point is, sandboxes and choose-your-own-adventure games have, over the past half-decade or so, been expanding to the point that it almost seems like every game has some kind of story choice in it."
Gamers are not always accepting of new people or new things so it is some what of a shocker that video games are adding more and more gay players. Gays have been more and more common in the last 2 years with games like dragon age 2 mass effect and sims all have gays in there games. Is this a good thing for video games? Do you think they should be pushing social issues in video games?
After nearly 20 sequels and expansion packs on the PC, The Sims have finally made their way to home consoles. I must admit that I was a Sims virgin; I’d always been intrigued by what appeared to be a super casual game that had magically caught the attention of the public at large, but I was too busy eviscerating Nazis and pistol-whipping zombies to commit to something decidedly less… violent.
"The Sims are no strangers to the Nintendo DS, but previous iteration didn’t let players experience the gameplay they have grown to love on the PC. Sims 3 for the DS aims to change all that and sticks close to its roots in order to satiate your god complex on the go. While it does so admirably, it’s no surprise that it does have some shortcomings."
"Sims 3 Late Night expands the world of Sims once again by adding a slew of new content, as well as a few gameplay changes to shake things up a bit. Players live up the nightlife within Bridgeport, a sleepless city of glamorous celebrities and nightclubs packed with more vacant sex-appeal than an episode of Jersey Shore."
"5. Need for Speed (NFS)-
The Need for Speed series has sold over 80 million copies. Those are some staggering numbers and if you’ve ever played the games in this series, you’ll see why they are so popular. There is something in the NFS series that just captures the interest of nearly anyone. You can pimp out your car however you choose and then drive it at incredible speeds and crash it if you feel like it for no apparent reason and with no worry about getting hurt or the money that will b..."

"While on the job, the player has direct control over their Sims’ work and can choose how to spend their days. Opt to make house calls and save lives as a doctor or choose the devious route and test experimental medicine on patients; be the hero firefighter tackling raging infernos or smashing everything in sight at the victim’s home with an axe; or take a shot at solving cases as an investigator, nicely convincing sources to divulge secrets or roughing up perpetrators in a dark alley to get i..."

"While most PC games are also released for the PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xboox 360; they normally offer a different experience than their console counterparts. This games offer the ability to modify your gaming experience or play other people's mods. There are also games that are only available for the PC. So how did you guys like that New Moon movie? CINEMA GOLD, am I right? Yeah, we're not sure how that Stephanie Meyers woman comes up with all these original and awesome ideas, then pens book after book in eloquent writing. I mean, I picked up a book at the store once, and my eyes bled from the sheer
crappiness greatness in her words.
Yeah anyway, if you've been keeping your nose buried in video games to avoid all things Twilight, you may wanna take a moment to check out EA's parody of t...
"Last week, information surfaced that Edge of Reality's upcoming slate may have unexpectedly been lightened. According to the LinkedIn profile of a former developer, Sega pulled the plug earlier this year on Cipher Complex, an espionage-themed modern-day action game originally announced in 2006. And though neither Sega nor Edge of Reality confirmed that situation, the studio remains at work on a number of high-profile projects for Electronic Arts.
When you're a Sim, you're a Sim for life.
Electronic Arts has released their financial statement for the first quarter of their 2010 fiscal year that ends in March 2010. This corresponds to Nintendo's Q1 FY2009, Sony's Q1 FY2009 and Microsoft's Q4 FY2009. The American videogame publisher posted a net loss of $234 million, although non-GAAP calculations brought the figure down to $6 million. Net revenue totals at $644 million for the quarter, with an operating loss of $245 million.
However, EA could claim multiple highlights for...

The EA Play Label of Electronic Arts Inc. have today announced that The Sims 3 World Adventures, the first expansion pack to the #1 best-selling PC and MAC game in June 2009, The Sims 3, is in development and will ship to retailers worldwide the week of November 16th, 2009."
"As demonstrated by this handy chart, the clear purpose of every Sims game is in fact, to kill all your Sims. It may sound sadistic and cruel, but I guess that’s why video games were invented, so we don’t do this kind of thing in real life.
And by “this kind of thing” I mean build a room made entirely of fireplaces or kill our paperboys with swords. Not content with being merely tragic, these 10 Sim deaths are truly bizarre."
"If you’re a fan of The Sims, then there’s a good chance you already have The Sims 3, which was released sometime last month. Like other game in the best-selling series, The Sims 3 comes with heaps of bugs that can drive any fan up the wall. If a certain bug is spoiling your Sims adventure, then check out the fixes that we’ve lined up for you after the jump."
"The figures, compiled by GfK Chart-Track, show family-oriented and educational games have become the most popular with the UK public. With combined sales volumes of 1.65 million units, Nintendo's Wii Fit, Wii Play and Mario Kart Wii titles equate to 72% of the top five 'best sellers' chart. The period also saw total sales of Nintendo's Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training surpass the three million units mark to become the UK's most popular game ever."
This guide on The Sims 3 begins with a tour of Sunset Valley. There is also a section on the Edit Town facility, which allows you to transform River View to suit your own needs, as well as details on how to get EA's second town for The Sims 3, River View.
The first patch for The Sims 3 was released just a couple of hours ago -- if you don't wish to sell your soul to the EA Download Manager (or just use it anyway, cause hey, it's not a very fun application sometimes) some direct links to it can be found here.
Note the patch is causing major issues for some users, though this may be only for those which have mods installed (like those the Custom Content Tool affords). Our (mod-free) testing resulted in no issues.
Worth noting is due to th...
According to The Sims 3 producer MJ Chun, the thing which most hurts your Sim's mood is being on fire. Second up, and pretty far behind is starvation, and just behind that is heartbreak.
On the positive end of the scale, the best thing that can happen is having children -- for 24 hours after having a child (even twins or triplets), your mood will be boosted 60 points.
Fidgit writer Tom Chick says: "So by my math, if you impregnate four women and have them all give birth within a 24-hour...
"TC: Okay, well let me ask you about another tricky issue. Something that I think is conspicuously absent from The Sims is something very important in many people's day-to-day lives. That's religion. How come the Sims has never incorporated that?
MC: I almost expected you to say laundry.
TC: Well, then that's my next question.
MC: We get that a lot. "When are you guys going to put in laundry?" We actually talked about laundry. It was like, "You know, to be honest, it's actually not th..."
Not the kind of story you see every day...Robin, a UK-based games design student, created a father and daughter in The Sims 3, made them homeless, and removed all but their most basic of necessities.
There's an entire story to this, so head to the source to check it out. It's ongoing, so more will be added as her game progresses.
Quite a 'project' -- shows just what can be done with the game and how realistic it is!
Video game publisher Electronic Arts today announced that the first week sales for its recently released PC/Mac title The Sims 3 totaled 1.4 million units. This is the strongest PC game launch in EA's history.
The Sims 3 has received favorable reviews and impressions, and features a much more basic form of DRM in the form of a simple disc check.
Certainly not the first time this sort of thing has happened with The Sims, but it is, as far as we can tell, the first time it's happened before release -- referring, of course, to the the third game's now released fanmade 'uncensor' patch, available through your Bittorrent website of choice.
Anyone interested in such things, of course, we can advise only to use with the bought version of the game (which we really recommend getting, as it has virtually no DRM), not the pirated version whi...

"With the E3 expo claiming the vast majority of brain matter of the gaming public, it would be easy to ignore this week's new releases unless it was something huge. Thankfully, it is. Electronic Arts will be releasing The Sims 3 on the PC this week.
Also arriving alongside the second full sequel to one of the most popular games of all time will be THQ's shooter Red Faction: Guerrilla (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) and the one week delay of Codemasters' racer Fuel (PC, PS3, Xbox 360)."
"Electronic Theatre has today received an updated release schedule for Electronic Arts’ forthcoming videogame titles. Obtained through partners in the independent retail sector, the schedule reveals the intended European release dates for a handful of titles due to arrive on shop shelves throughout both May and June."
"Many of the online features appear to be a part of a long-term plan, and possibly even acting as a replacement to the expansion discs that the previous two The Sims titles have received in various shapes and sizes. The key features as listed in the Press Release are included below:"
""The game will have disc-based copy protection - there is a Serial Code just like The Sims 2. To play the game there will not be any online authentication needed.
We feel like this is a good, time-proven solution that makes it easy for you to play the game without DRM methods that feel overly invasive or leave you concerned about authorization server access in the distant future.""
New screenshots have been released for the Sims 3, showing that we can actually make characters that APPEAR to be vampires, but we cannot play as actual vampires in the game, i myself don't like the looks of these vampalikes, the female looks like Cruella de Vil met the Addams Family, just my two cents though.
"The original version of The Sims, which launched in 2000, quickly became the best-selling PC game of all time. In the years since, the franchise has surpassed 100 million total units sold, counting The Sims 2 and all of the expansions for both full iterations."
"I already know a lot of people are going to complain about the screenshot comparison and how ridiculous and trivial it is. Okay, point taken. But for everyone else out there who seems to think that these two software titles share a similar taste in visual style, here's a comparison to show you just how close their visual appearances are."
"Electronic Arts have today released a Question and Answer session discussing the PC exclusive release of The Sims 3. It's not stated exactly who was asking or answering the questions, but as a piece of PR bumf it's fairly revealing. The entire Question & Answer session follows below, ad-verbatim..."
"So what hope is there for the PC? Unfortunately, things look grim, though there is hope in unusual places. Of course, MMOs will help to keep PC gaming alive; I dont think WoW will be leaving us anytime soon. And with the increase in casual gaming by women (playing arcade or card games online), those kind of game sales will help to booster the PC as well.
In addition, an alliance was formed earlier this year, including Intel, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Advanced Micro Devices, all companies wit..."
"The Sims 3 looks to be in every way an expansion of whats come before, maintaining the same depth while streamlining - not simplifying - the rules a bit to better create the impression of leading an artificial life. While our brief demo did open with the statement that Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts are dedicated to delivering a more newcomer-friendly experience this time around, the material we saw told a far different story."
Popular Gaming Magazine PSM 3 have unleashed another round of rumors on the Internet concerning the PS3. Among there list is that both Sims 3 and Left 4 Dead will be coming to the PS3, IO Interactive is working on a new Hitman game, the 360's exclusive DLC for GTAIV will be coming to the PS3 6 months down the track and many more. Some of these mirror rumors from other sites so perhaps a couple of them are true.
The article, written by EndSights.com's Aram Kuredjian, argues that gamers are unduly and unfairly attacking EA because of their sports franchises, pointing out the great games they have published in recent years like Rock Band, Orange Box, and upcoming games like Spore, Sims 3, and Dragon Age: Origins.
E3 2008 provided Gamespot with a trailer showing a Sim going about his business. While at first it appears to be gameplay from "The Sims 2", seconds later, a new and colorful world appears, showing the true content of the incoming "Sims 3".
The link for the trailer isn't provided, but Gamespot made a great description, so you can imagine how it is.

"The top-selling video game of all time has just surpassed another milestone, as EA announced that The Sims, which has been released in more than 20 different languages, has now sold 100 million copies the world over since it sprang from the mind of super-developer Will Wright in 2000. The first game's expansion-laden release was followed by The Sims 2 in the fall of 2004, while the recently announced The Sims 3 will drop sometime in 2009, for the first time letting sims venture beyond their f..."
