Transformers: War for Cybertron - Autobots

Transformers: War for Cybertron - Autobots

"The Playstation Store updated late this evening but it includes quite a bit of content including demos for Madden NFL 11 and Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days as well as the first pack of DLC for Transformers: War for Cybertron, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 and more. There's also a selection of PSOne Disney games added as well."

More giant robots and more maps were added to Transformers: War for Cybertron on Xbox LIVE this morning. PS3 owners will have to wait until the PS Store update later this afternoon.

"We previously reported on Transformers: War for Cybertron DLC coming but now Activision and High Moon Studios have made it official. The pre-order characters of Shockwave, Demolisher and Jazz along with two other characters and new maps are coming on July 27 for the PS3 and Xbox 360."

"If you're in the market for a good deal on an Xbox 360 game then you might want to keep your eye on Amazon today. The mega online retailer is featuring games from Microsoft's console in its Gold Box all day today with Transformers: War for Cybertron as the Deal of the Day and eight games in the Lightning Deals."

"The deals this week are gift card heavy as both Target and Toys R Us are offering gift cards with the purchase of select games for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii. Meanwhile, GameStop kicks off their Power Saver Sale where you can get 10-50% off of select titles and free shipping. And, if you're looking for a new Xbox 360, K-Mart has a pretty good deal on a new Xbox 360 and Transformers: War for Cybertron."

"Video games have multiplayer, anymore that’s almost a given. Multiplayer gives people the chance to go out and pit themselves against other people from around the world or it allows for a collaborative effort to achieve victory. But there are some games that either miss the mark, or totaly skip the online process altogether."

"The physical act of transforming is also fantastic, and ends up being a very organic part of the gameplay. Although you’ll be specifically instructed to transform for different sections of the game (indeed, some levels play out primarily in vehicle form), it’s the act of transforming in combat that will probably impress you the most. It only takes seconds to switch form, so you’ll switch as the elements of a battle change."

"Transformers: War for Cybertron fell short on some of the expectations I had. While I really enjoyed the multiplayer beta and even the final multiplayer experience, the single player campaign wasn't enough to keep me hooked to see it to the end."

"Transformers is the third release from the franchise in recent year but the good news for fans is that this is nothing to do with the movies if fact its even set pre cartoon, in the story line. This is good news for fans of Transformers as the film licenced games recently have been pretty awful. Essentially this is the back story before the cartoon, before Optimus became a prime, a lesson in the history of the Transformers"

"Given the wealth of characters and background in the Transformers universe, we knew it was only a matter of time before downloadable content for Transformers: War for Cybertron was announced despite High Moon keeping mum. That inevitable announcement has been spoiled a little though by an accidental listing on Xbox LIVE Marketplace that reveals the upcoming DLC characters and maps."

Read on to find out.

The third episode of Slam The Controller is now available. This week is a look into the popular franchises from our childhood. So many titles based on IP from the mid to late 80s, and even more modern work, end up being throw away games. With recent games bucking the trend, will developers and publishers finally see the light and deliver high quality titles based on some of our favorite IP?

"High Moon Studios is kicking off the first multiplayer Double XP weekend for their recently released Transformers: War for Cybertron this weekend. The event runs from Friday, July 2 at 9 PM EST through Sunday, July 4 for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360."

"High Moon Studios could have taken the low road and turned out another generic piece of marketing designed to siphon what little hope the fans have left. Instead, it went for broke, expanding upon the history of the series, constructing a world worthy of admiration, and redesigning the classic characters. I see you gritting your teeth, but hold on. Unlike Michael Bay’s bastardization of the characters, High Moon Studios’ versions look fantastic, and I can’t wait to get my hands on Hasbro’s fi..."

"Transformers went from an 80’s toyline, to a 90’s television phenomenon, and finally to a household name in recent times with Michael Bay’s adaption of the beloved toy franchise into two motion pictures (along with a coming third)."

"The Transformers story has gone through several variations and changes to its story since we were first introduced to the endless war between the Autobots and Decepticons back in 1984. Since then we’ve seen updates in comic, cartoon, and movie form. But what about what happened on Cybertron before the robots in disguise made it to Earth? That’s the concept that High Moon Studios brought to the table for Transformers: War for Cybertron and we’re going to take a look at how well they pulled off..."

The latest Transformers game is starting to turn heads because of its heavy emphasis on free-roaming multiplayer battles. Find out in The Kartel's review why this Transformers title is the one to own for diehard loyalists and fans of the series.

"I’m thoroughly convinced that cartoons just aren’t what they used to be, but then again it’s most likely the nostalgia factor that has finally settled in hard-headed old age. But I can say that without a doubt that Optimus Prime and his fellow Autobots ushered in a new era of Saturday morning programming with the introduction of action-oriented animation. Our memories of the hardships endured by the Autobots have been cashed in on time and time again without pleasing the fan within. High Moon..."

Xbox Evolved posts some originally captured gameplay footage from the newly released Xbox 360 exclusive multiplayer demo of Transformers: War for Cybertron coming later this month to retail.

"Summer is here at least in theory, since practically the weather is still awful, which means that we’ll have to spend more time inside, playing computer games. And if you’re starting to get bored with the games you’re playing already, you should not worry – there are a bunch of hot new titles being released in June 2010 for the PC and you’ll certainly have reasons to go on a spending spree!"

"Kicking off a brand new feature here at PlanetXbox360.com we are listing the top 5 Xbox 360 releases for each month of the year, starting with June of 2010. The list will be in the order from 1-5 that our top editors would recommend them, if for example you only have the fund to purchase one game this month our advice would be to pick up whichever is in the number one spot, then going backwards to number five if the extra cash is available to purchase more than one Xbox 360 release each month..."

Shockwave and Soundwave's distinct voices? Check. Soundwave transforming into a boombox? Check. Starscream being a whiney little weasel? Check. The only thing missing is THE song. Oh, wait.

"Without a doubt, gamers have to be living in one of the best times possible for new releases. Not only have we had great games to look forward to each month, but each month has been better than the last."

Don't get confused with the title, this is not a Transformers tie in movie, this is a re-imagining of more then one particular series. Transformers: War For Cybertron pits you on their home planet and not only does this game have single player, but it has multiplayer as well. Here is a new multiplayer modes trailer along with some new playable character info.

New trailer for Activision and High Moon Studios' Transfoermers: War for Cybertron. Shows off the different classes of Transformers for the multiplayer portion of the game.

"When Michael Bay released two films based on Hasbro's Transformers, they divided audiences into two groups. One couldn't get enough of the over-the-top robotic action and gorgeous special effects (and having Megan Fox didn't hurt), while the other was completely devastated by what Bay had accomplished, drowning the beloved cartoon series in a heaping mass of bad writing and ridiculously awful jokes. (Did Devastator really need a scrotum?) Well, no matter which side you're on, you're bound to ..."

"That beautiful image you see above is the Autobot city of Iacon falling apart in the midst of a devastating Decepticon attack. One of High Moon Studios core goals with Transformers: War For Cybertron is to turn the Transformers home planet of Cybertron into a compelling setting that gamers care about. With that in mind, they've shared a whole bunch of concept art (as well as some character art of the titular robots in disguise). Check it out below and let us know what you think!"
