Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram

Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram

"The Sega classic Cyber Troopers Virtual On Oratorio Tangram is a mouthful to say but the mech fighting game provided thrills galore in Japanese arcades before making its way to the Sega Dreamcast (1999) and the Xbox 360 last year. For this week only, Virtual On is on sale for 800 MS Points (33% off) as part of Xbox Live's Deal of the Week."

Accessory maker Hori has announced that there is enough interest for them to start production on and ship their Twin Stick controller for the Xbox 360, for use with Sega's XBLA title Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram v.5.66, to play the game they way it's supposed to be played.

Shipping for the twin sticks is planned for November/December of this year, and will cost 30000 yen. The controller can be ordered from HORISTORE.com.

Revealed in this week's issue of Weekly Famitsu, Sega is confirmed to be releasing the arcade mecha-battling title Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram for the Xbox Live Arcade. This is version 5.66, which is the final arcade version of the title that utilized the Dreamcast-based NAOMI board, the details for which can be found here. The title will release later this year for 1200 Microsoft points. There is no word yet of a release outside of Japan.

Siliconera's Spencer has been keen enough to notice Sega has gone to great lengths in recent times to protect its franchises of old, trademarking ChuChu Rocket (just last week), Sonic Shuffle, Jet Grind Radio, Cosmic Smash (a truly unique gem), and Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram. Is Sega getting "back in the game" one step at a time? Kind of seems like it...
