In the fourth installment of their five-part series "Gamer terminology," Examiner looks at some of the terms which are commonly used by real-time strategy players online. Knowing these phrases can help you tremendously in team-based games where your partner may be trying to communicate an important strategy to you.
"Apparently Eric was talking some serious smack during an online game, and these guys just didn't agree with that. They managed to track Eric to his school, and that's when they jumped him. Seriously, that's what all of this is about. They were all playing Defence of the Ancients, a custom online scenario for Warcraft III, when Eric Hamber pwned all of them. I guess he reveled a little too much in his victory, rubbing the losers' nose in it, and they decided to take action."
"If ever a gaming genre has become a lightning rod for brow-knotting aphorisms, it’s real-time strategy. Conventional wisdom dictates that RTS has failed to crack the console market in this or any other generation, despite repeated attempts from talented teams, and its native PC home has been relentlessly attacked by pirates in recent years. It’s a two-pronged assault to which even the biggest names in games have apparently no answer, say the worriers."
"Throughout gaming history, and your own personal gaming experiences, I’m sure there are moments that you will never forget. The death of your favorite character, a sudden plot twist, a beautiful romance reaching fruition, or whatever else suits your fancy, there are certain moments that are etched indelibly into your memory.
This list explores 10 of my most favorite scenes/moments from video games. I make no effort to claim that these are THE top 10 EVER. They are simply 10 moments that I ..."
Following their recent move to Orange County, California, Blizzard Entertainment (odd place for a company named as such, innit?) decided to put up a 12 foot high statue of a member of the Horde in front of their offices, lest any passerbys get funny ideas (we assume).
"After spending three years in Meet Your Makers, which let go of their Warcraft III and Starcraft squads in January due to strategy concern, Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang, one of the most illustrious players - if not the most - penned a three-year contract with WeMade FOX that worth 700,000,000 won, approximately 473,037 USD based on exchange rate today.
Moon relished the chance to play for a home-ground team, and is keen to bring more trophies in the future. He said in the press conference earlier ..."
"The owner of the restaurant said he created the diner in the hope that people who share his enthusiasm for The World of Warcraft would find a comfortable gathering place.
In addition to the interior decoration, game features dominate the menu selection. Diners choose from dishes named after denizens of the virtual world."
Metroid Prime, Kingdom Hearts and Super Mario Sunshine led the charge in 2002, the year that saw The Sims become the highest selling PC title of all time, Rare switch hands from Microsoft to Nintendo, and the launch of the first video game television network, G4.
Counting down the top games from 1990 straight up through 2008, Binge Gamer's James Walker takes a look at the best (and worst) games from the year of the GameCube, 2002.
Ma Jae-Yoon "sAviOr" defeated fellow Korean pro-gamer Lee Yun-Yeol "NaDa" in two sets to win BlizzCon's pro Starcraft tournament with a nice $25,000 prize.
On the Warcraft side, Park Jun "Lyn" defeated Spanish pro Pedro Duran "Lucifron" twice to come out of the lower bracket and claim the first place finish.

"Plenty of people use non-expensive laptops and desktop pcs for simple school projects, music management, and web browsing. A lot of these people are also gamers, but don't buy games for their PCs because they think that their setup can't handle anything beyond Bejewled. Well they're wrong. I happen to be one of those gamers. I got my laptop last Christmas and ignorantly popped in the Orange Box and after the lengthy install, dove into Half-Life 2. It wasn't pretty. I thought my computer was g..."
