"Warhammer Online's latest patch, update 1.3.5, made the endgame focus more on RvR. It was a welcome change for a game that is centered around faction based warfare but like all updates it need a few fixes."

"Update 1.3.5 makes city sieges a completely "100% RvR driven" experience. No longer will players only fight NPCs. Both sides will fight each other in each of the stages creating a true RvR experience."

"The Second part of our 'What the F&%k' of the week, is going to go to Games Workshop. Anyone that doesn't know who Games Workshopis they are the makers of Warhammer, they and uhh, Mythic make the Warhammer 40,000 game. But Games Workshop started primarily with the tabletop Warhammer. But they have filed a lawsuit against Curse a company who operates WarhammerAlliance.com which is a fan site and general gaming news site. They are suing them for trademark infringement, cybersquating and unfair ..."

"Mythic Entertainment, an Electronic Arts studio, has sounded a rallying call for past players of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning with their new Call to Arms Reenlistment Campaign. In fact, all past subscribers of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning are invited to return to the game between December 16th – 23rd; if they do so, they will receive special in-game item rewards and ten free days of game time to discover why the game has changed and become even better than before!"

"EA Mythic has chosen the Apple as a healthy alternative to the crazy Warhammer Online cake we told you about last month. By which we mean the developer's fantasy MMO is coming to the Mac -- on October 10, to be exact. That's when the game -- which uses TransGaming's Cider technology to run on OS X -- officially hits, but anyone who has an existing WAR account (or wants to sign up for a 10-day "beta trial") can download the Mac beta client and start playing right now.

Mac players will be gi..."

Werner, provides an epic and gripping account of Destruction’s incursion into the infinitely massive and decidedly deadly Bastion Stair in search of the legendary Spear of Myrmidia. As the armies of Destruction continue their war upon the civilized lands, the Raven Host of Chaos is poised to march upon the Empire of Man in an unstoppable tide. To ensure victory against the Emperor’s Order of the Griffon, an elite party of Chaos warriors is t..."

"Video game publishers and retailers are risking hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines by illegally selling online role playing games such as World of Warcraft without age classifications.

The games industry believes there is a legal loophole exempting online games that don't have a single player component from classification requirements but this view is contradicted by the federal and state attorneys-general.

World of Warcraft, with more than 11.5 million subscribers, is the most p..."

"Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is about to get its first expansion. The so-called "Call to Arms" expansion isn't something you'll buy in stores, though - it's a batch of new content that will be rolled out over the course of three months."

A couple of weeks ago, various gaming sites recieved packages from mythic hinting that the 2 new classes are slayer and choppa.

Now the creative folks are at it again, hinting that the live event will start on Feb 14 by sending "love poems" out, and maybe even have hidden clues for what the tasks are.

"Warhammer Online now has over 800,000 "current players", according to financial result papers for EA.

That's not terribly exciting in itself, as the MMO had just 50,000 fewer players at the start of October. But this does mean numbers are still going up and not - as some stories would have us believe - down.

This will also make Mythic and owner EA a modest but substantial but substantial income, assuming the 800,000 players will fork out GBP 8.99 once the free trial month has run out. W..."

Zenimax Online Studio's Matt Firor has had an interview with RPGVault, in which he states that there is no better time than now to begin production of a new MMORPG to enter the market and challenge the massive behemoth in the sector, World of Warcraft. He also gives us some details into what aspects of the games they should be looking at focusing on, and who needs to be on the team for them to succeed.

An interesting look in to this aspect of gaming and perhaps a glimpse of insight into t...

GameIndustry.biz got a chance to speak to Frank Pearce of Bllizzard Entertainment about a wide assortment of things, ranging from Warcraft and Warhammer, to the current MMO scene, to upcoming RTS and how they expect to build on past experiences with Diablo III. We also get a little bit of a look at the inside workings of the company. Worth a look for all interested in seeing where Blizzard Entertainment is going to be going next!

"It’s not just the forces of order who must respect Witch Hunters, even the forces of Destruction recognize the danger they pose. Deep in the forests of Reikland, the Witch Hunters led by Edvard Kohl have established a temporary headquarters near the Reikguard castle. In order to continue forward toward Altdorf and ultimate victory, the forces of Destruction must crush them beneath their boots. So, playing this for the first couple of times I thought, “You know what would be cool? If Edvar..."

After officially announcing the MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic for the PC, EuroGamer got in on a little secret: One of the EA Executives - Frank Gibeau - has let loose that there may be a Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning console version in the making, as well as for the Star Wars MMO.

Some class changes are abound for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR), and the details are here for ya.

Four more classes were planned for the game following the two it cut back in July, but one will likely be switched out for another, according to developer Mythic's Mark Jacobs. The plan is for either the Dwarf Hamerer or the Greenskin Choppa to be taken out, and another (probably) will be put in its place. If they took a vote it could be kind of like those crappy reality TV shows.....

So far, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is doing very well, reaching over 750,000 accounts in less than a month and with the recent news that the game is going to add two new character classes, IGN decided to interview VP and GM of Mythic Entertainment Mark Jacobs so they could get some more details on the news, as well as other future things about the game.

Two classes that were cut from Warhammer's intial release the Black Knight and Knight of the Blazing Sun are making their return in Decemeber as announced by Mark Jacobs.

This good news for the overworked Order and Descruction tanks. They can spend more time defending those keeps now.

The NPD Group has released their hardware and software numbers for the month of September, representing sales for the United States for the five week period of September 1st to October 6th.

The notables this month:

  • Nintendo hardware still sells extremely well, despite the economy in a downward trend
  • Microsoft dropped the price of the 360 again in September and saw increased weekly sales
  • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed released this month, with three versions charting in the top ten.

It's been almost a month and the armies of Order and Destruction keep growing with the total registered players totally 750,000. The real number will be how many subscribers there are on Oct 18 when the paid subscriptions kick in for the first time.

After having a conversation with his friend Allen about trying to convince him to play the recently released MMO called Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, Adam LaMosca - who writes for The Escapist - lists all the reasons why some people are just not attracted to MMO-type games, such as his friend.

Warhammer Online has announced that more than 500,000 players have registered to play the MMORPG. According to Mythic Studios, this makes Warhammer “the fastest-selling new MMO of all time.”

"War is everywhere in this next generation Realm vs. Realm (RvR) experience that integrates PvP and PvE combat into a single seamless experience. In a world dominated by force of arm and magic, players experience the epic nature of war and the glory of battle alongside thousands of other players. Every aspect of the game, including PvE content, is geared towards the greater war in some important way."

Australian software sales for the week of September the 21st for all consoles, the Wii and the Nintendo DS.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed heavily dominated the all consoles top ten, also managing a respectable second on the top ten Wii games from being beaten by Wii Fit which also managed third being the best all console seller other than Star Wars. Wall-E managed top spot for the DS chart closely followed by Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What To Eat.

UK Software sales currently for all consoles, the Wii and the Nintendo DS.

It's no surprise that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has come out on top of the all consoles chart. Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii performed as expected, taking second and third on the all consoles chart along with first and second on the Wii chart. More surprising statistics include Imagine: Teacher achieving fourth on the DS chart!

The list of the top selling games has been once again released. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has come out on top for pretty much every system, doing really well. For the Wii, Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit came out first and second. On the 360, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Tales of Vesperia, and Rock Band 2 came out in the lead. For the PS3, again, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed game out on top along with Afrika in Japan; Grand Theft Auto IV and Metal Gear Solid 4 came high as well. To see t...

The games should start arriving this week at retailers Wednesday, September 17, and they should have a good truckload this time. Tons of stuff out to coincide with the fall season, and a nice bit of it is very promising. From Dragon Quest IV to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed to Crysis Warhead to WAR to Rock Band 2, gamers won't have trouble finding their blockbuster title of choice, though the trouble may be in finding how many one can afford.

"One faction is evil. No, actually evil, not just 'misunderstood'. The Orcs want to eat babies, the Dark Elves are sadists, and the Chaos Marauders want everyone dead or corrupted. You are playing a very bad person if you fight for Destruction."

Pre-ordered Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning? Well then you qualify for the Head Start Program which will get you into the game before everyone who hasn't pre-ordered the game. Standard and Collector's Editions have different start dates.

Yesterday, the European beta for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning kicked off, but now without a few problems. With high levels of traffic hitting the official European site, along with a few other problems, GOA, the publisher for the UK version of the game, weren't very prepared.

Ghislaine Le Rhun, chief executive of GOA, posted up an article earlier today (which you can see in the quote) apologizing to every Euro player who was eagerly waiting to play the beta.

SwagVault is giving away beta access keys to would-be Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning players, the MMORPG due out September 23. From now until September 5, you can grab one and try out the game early! Details in the quote.

For our impressions of the beta, head over to Neoseeker.

A ex-developer, who remains anonymous, has said he received no credit in the development of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning and may sue EA. Mark Jacobs, the Lead Designer of the game and VP of Mythic Entertainment, wants the guy to reveal himself, saying "If you really think that we’re doing something wrong, at least have the balls to stand up and go 'Hi, my name is so-and-so.'"

MTV and Jacobs also discussed how MMO developers should get credit for their work. Jacobs thinks only people ...

Mythic is most well-known for their other MMO, Dark Age of Camelot. WAR will heavily-feature Realm vs Realm combat as its central gameplay element.

Not sure whether to pre-order Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning? These three bonuses that EA is giving out may change your mind. First of all, you can get access to the beta test, the ability to play a few days earlier before the retail version of the game ships, and bonus items within the game. Age of Reckoning is set to release on September 16th and you can pre-order it on Direct2Drive, IGN's digital download service.

"According to these minimum requirements, Warhammer would be able to run on a 9800 Pro. For those of you who don't remember, the 9800 Pro was released almost five years ago. You heard that right, five years ago."

The annual E3 Media & Business Summit, known as E3 is coming up soon between 15-17 July. There will be new games and announcements, but that's not all! Major game producers will be spreading big news, so be sure to take a look.

"The key element that Drescher and Gershowitz tried to get across was that, despite these classes having many common elements, classes that share similar features might have completely different roles in the game. The best example they mentioned during our time together was our first pairing up for discussion: the White Lion and the Squig Herder."

Mark Jacobs, a general manager over at EA Mythic in Virgina is very confident that the upcoming beta for the anticipated MMORPG, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, also known simply as WAR, will surpass 1,000,000 users once the title is opened up to the Asian markets. One of the largest Asian MMORPG markets being Korea.

The closed beta has been live for over a year and with over 500,000 playing users, out of 600,000+ registered users for the closed beta has pleased Jacobs to the point of ...

With the somewhat of a let down of WAR being delayed we needed a picker upper. EA Mythic has done just that by announcing details regarding WAR's collectors edition bundle, and, what a bundle it is! (Just look at the images and drool).

In terms of collectors editions PC games have been known to have some substantial loot to go along with the game after spending quite a big chunk of cash more. EA certainly isn't skimping out on this, riviling the CE loot that WoW offered.

With the WAR CE...

The next MMORPG to give World of Warcraft a run for its money has been pushed back yet again. The game originally had a Q1 2008 launch window but had been pushed back to Q2.

Eurogamer has first hand news that WAR has been pushed back now to a "fall" release. Fans not in the beta let out yet another sigh of disappointment. However, delays do mean less bugs!

"Official Release:

It's a sad day for Warhammer fans. Warhammer Online has announced the game has had "development time extended" as a result of feedback from the beta testers until the middle of 2008.

There is some good news however, in December a new round of beta invitations will be sent out. Let's just hope the new beta testers don't result in the game's development time being extended yet again.
