"The big release season is in full swing, and those of you with deep wallets are busy playing the huge number of quality games on offer.
But what about those who can only afford maybe one or two new releases, or maybe none at all yet? There’s a global economic slowdown on after all.
Well at OXCGN we’ve decided to put ourselves a second time in the game Animus and go back in time to discover what titles we enjoyed this gen that you should be able to get for cheap (and still play the multip..."
All Age Gaming's John Elliott brings us the 11th developer profile. This time he looks at the Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein developer id Software. See inside for a look into this renowned PC developer.
"Bullet-time has become a staple of action video games over the past ten years, and a lot of thanks can go to the sci-fi blockbuster, the Matrix. The art of slowing down time in order to act faster, or respond more precisely, has slipped it’s way into a number of our favourite games, and we’re here to pay homage to these time-bending experiences."
"Video Games have existed just a bit longer than I’ve been alive to play them (a sentence that will surely date me in the eyes of my audience). But since their inception into the world and over the expanse of time into our popular culture, there have been franchises that have received multiple iterations and have ‘changed with the times’, so to speak. Most notably would be Mario, Nintendo’s lovable plumber who has rescued Princess Peach on more occasions than I care to remember. Over the years..."
Xbox 360 owners curious about Raven Software's latest outing should give the 578MB demo a try, just released on Xbox LIVE to Gold members -- Silver members can grab it later.
For further grits, check out our review on Neoseeker -- quite recommended.
"Raven Software's latest game, the shooter sequel Wolfenstein, has been pulled from sale in Germany, after publisher Activision Blizzard realized some Nazi iconography was present in the German version of the game."
"Need help stomping Nazis? Look no further than our complete guide to Wolfenstein. In it you'll find detailed walkthroughs for every mission and side mission with every valuable, enemy Intel, and Tome of Power pointed out along the way. You’ll also find treasure maps for the Midtown West, Midtown East, and Downtown areas of Isenstadt, as well as information on multiplayer and a complete listing of Xbox 360 achievements and PlayStation 3 trophies."
"One look at Wolfenstein and you'll see why it's being touted as a "reboot": the Nazis are toying around with energy from an alternate dimension, leading to a heavy dose of zero-gravity and time-stopping nonsense. The unkillable American special op BJ Blazkowicz has access to some damn strange, sci-fi-style weaponry (like a Tesla coil-powered electricity gun, and my personal favorite, a Nazi-vaporizing particle cannon). In essence, the game feels a lot like Wolfenstein, and yet somehow manag..."
Yahtzee decides to crush Wolfenstien into the ground but if that isn't good enough for you, he also does the whole thing in limerick form. Let the laughter ensue and for a bonus treat at the end, Yahtzee reveals his next review to come out next week.
"Wolfenstein is an old school fps game. The levels are linear, the enemies are straight forward and the weapons are simple. Despite this and a few modern game mechanic the game still is average at best. The SP campaign is a bit short and the MP mode misses the mark completely due to tech issues. Wolfenstein isn't an awful game but it's nothing stellar and it definitely could've used some more work."
"Wolfenstein 3D seventeen years ago redefined what gamers had to look forward to in the future of the FPS genre, and we have all benefited from it. But has this new iteration developed by Raven Software and published by Activision managed to keep up with the rest of the pack? Read on to find out."
"Excerpt from the review:
In the end Wolfenstein is a bad ass first person shooter in both single and multiplayer. It doesn’t bring a lot to the table as far as innovation to the FPS genre, but it makes it up for it by doing everything else perfect. The look/design of the game is great, graphics are fine, guns and powers are fun, and the multiplayer is actually worth playing.
Though we have games like Modern Warfare 2 and Halo 3: ODST on the horizon, going against what is currently out t..."
"Throughout the history of video games, few enemies have made more appearances or better targets than Nazis.
It is not implausible to estimate at least a trillion digital Nazis have met bloody ends on gaming systems worldwide since Wolfenstein 3D kick started the first-person-shooter genre 17 years ago.
Wolfenstein 3D blazed the trail for id Software’s 1993 release of Doom, which took the gaming world by storm and cemented the genre’s place as a pillar of video game design.
While the ..."

"Bj's BACK!!!!!!!!
And I'm kinda let down...........Really I am. Let me first say that I can even count the times I've played through Wolfestein 3D, or how much time I put into Enemy territory in the original Xbox, but this game doesn't do it for me.""
"Essentially, the variety of components that Raven Software has thrown into the pot resulted in an interesting brew, though none of individual ingredients stand out as something exceptional."
The name Wolfenstein has been associated with the First Person Shooter genre for years now. Usually games that bare the name Wolfenstein are quality titles. Is this new game on the Xbox 360 another quality Wolfenstein product or does it miss the target. Read on to find out.
"Id software has finally brought their classic FPS franchise Wolfenstein to current-gen consoles. Back when Wolfenstein 3D was released, it presented cutting-edge technology and helped expose a lot of gamers to the world of 3D shooters. Now 10 years later, can Wolfenstein inspire a whole new generation of gamers, or has time passed this franchise by?"
Were you worried the new Wolfenstein would be a flaming piece of crap? Rest those fears, young one, Raven Software have actually done quite a delightful job.
Though as with any game, the community hasn't reached a universal consensus on this one exactly, our own Lydia Sung has given it her stamp of approval, so if it's something you've been interested in, definitely give it a rental, at least.
Read on for the full review to see if it's up your alley.
CVG have realeased a harsh but fair review of the new release, Wolfenstein. Wolfentein has not recieved as good reception as developers Activision had wished for. Many other reviews have also slated the game for "not being up to modern age standards."
This I think, is one to give a miss.
All Age Gaming presents our 7th The Week That Was. This week we look at the PS3 slim and the PS3 price drop, the Wii's lack of hardcore games and the Xbox 360's failure rate.
Endrant Studios is a small UK based developer, who was working closely with Raven Software to finish the multiplayer aspect of Wolfenstein. However, many of the companies key members were fired on Tuesday, the same day the game was released. A spokesperson for the studio had this to say:
“We have recently completed a development cycle and have regrettably been forced to make adjustments to staff and headcounts. Those affected are valued members of our team who have worked incredibly hard o...
"Melty Blood: Actress Again (PS2 Import)
The original Melty Blood came out for the PC back in 2002. The story and characters were based on Tsukihime, a visual novel created by Type-Moon (the in-game story takes place about a year after the events in Tsukihime). Some are under the impression that Melty Blood borrowed heavily from Guilty Gear X, but in reality, the game took many of its cues from the Queen of Heart fighting game series. In fact, Queen of Heart '98 was released by French-Bread..."

If Raven's new game Wolfenstein can beat Madden 2010's sales for the month of August, one of Raven's designers will pay for everyone's copy of the game that has a receipt. Sounds like a pretty good deal. Sadly, I don't think I'd gamble on it.
"Wolfenstein will again place you in the boots of B.J. Blazkowicz and the game picks up directly after the events of Return to Castle Wolfenstein. While Wolfenstein is set during World War Two, it’s not aiming to offer another Medal of Honor or Call of Duty experience, as the gameplay and plot elements focus heavily on the supernatural."
"“No,” Sokal said, “in this game there will be no Hitler. We love ‘Mecha Hitler.’ Obviously, he’s one of the classic bad guys in videogames. It’s so famous in Wolf 3D when you finally killed him off, but this time around -- like I said -- it takes place after the events of Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
“So, we wanted to expand on that story, make it a lot deeper story arc this time around. For the story we were trying to tell this time, it just didn’t really fit to have Hitler and Mecha Hit..."
"You play as BJ Blazkowicz, a highly decorated member of the Office of Secret Actions (OSA), sent on a special mission into the heart of the Reich to investigate evidence that the Nazis may possess a new and mysterious power. While behind enemy lines, you discover the Nazis have done much more than develop a new toy. The Nazis are harnessing the power of the Black Sun through a dark parallel dimension called The Veil, in order to create a weapon of war-ending mass destruction. You are the only..."

"The famed title that created an entire video game genre, Wolfenstein 3D offers players a chance to experience the intensity of escaping from Castle Wolfenstein all over again. Classic enemies like Hans Grosse and Mecha-Hitler await players in the six episodes that span 60 levels. Wolfenstein 3D is rated 18 by the BBFC."
"Brown's work has been featured in numerous feature films and television shows with credits, including: "Ali," "Any Given Sunday," "CSI: NY" and "Finding Forrester." He previously also scored id's hit Return to Castle Wolfenstein(R)."
"It's been 8 years since the release of the last real Wolfenstein game. After seeing Wolfenstein last week at an Activision event, we wonder if there's any reason to revisit the franchise.
There's a fine line between "classic" and "dated," and Wolfenstein finds itself on the wrong side of the fence. Fighting Nazis was a novel idea back in the series' prime, but it has since become a tired idea. At first glance, Wolfenstein can only be described as generic. A FPS that has you crawling throug..."
"The Wolfenstein series has always had one foot in the occult - after all, Wolfenstein 3D had the player fighting Robo-Hitler. Still, the upcoming PS3/Xbox 360/PC shooter Wolfenstein has all the previous installments beat in terms of overall weirdness."
Ein Führer will not appear in the next installation of the Wolfenstein franchise. You may all remember back in the original Wolfenstein 3D, a Doom-esque FPS for DOS- which was later ported to the GBA, Hitler was a robotic menace of a final boss wielding two Gatling guns.
The article contains many other interesting facts about the next game, but unfortunately no release date yet.
"
* Takes place in WWII against Nazi's fully dabbling in the occult
* BJ (the hero) will also make use of supernatural powers.
* Game gives you a city in which the game takes place. Missions and quests take you through different parts. As you complete quests, more of the city opens up. Kind of a non-linear path.
* Set piece and randomly generated activity block your path.
* There is an AI resistance force that will assist..."
id Software have released information on building on existing franchises for multiple consoles. The first title they plan on building on is a new Wolfenstein with both Threewave Software and Raven Software working on it. This will arrive to the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Just on the smaller note Return to Castle Wolfenstein is being made into a movie. Also announced was 2 new Quake titles. 1 being Quake Arena Arcade for the Xbox 360, but this will only be a Arcade game and this is being ...
