The classic franchise Worms continues to grow with new installments on the PlayStation Portable, PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and beyond. The latest release is Worms: Special Edition for the Mac platform.
Worms is a game that you may remember jamming out on from systems like the PS2, PSP, PS3, 360, PC, and more. Now Worms might become more than just a video game franchise as it expands to other products!
"Further upgrades for the iPhone/iPod Touch edition are in the works, with an update for 3.0 features to include Bluetooth multi-player, improved 3GS visual effects and support for interaction with both Facebook and Twitter. The second major update will support full infrastructure Internet play, with voice support, leaderboards and other delights, which will make iPhone Worms one of the most fully featured handheld editions of the game bar none."
"Bringing a zany mix of iconic, crazy weapons and exhilarating action-strategy, Worms for iPhone and iPod touch is an uncompromised console-style edition of the award-winning series that features the classic weapons plus the infamous Holy Hand Grenade, Concrete Donkey and Ninja Rope and takes advantage of the innovative Multi-Touch user interface for this edition."
"Team17 have listened hard to the fans response and have delivered in spades, with cult weapons returning, amazing new weapons, incredible customisation of Worms teams (including around sixty voice sets, hats and more), tons of game options, totally new physics, persistent fire and much more."

Major Nelson has posted the Live Activity for this week, summing up what is being played online in the gaming world for Xbox 360. I am amazed that despite the release of World at War, this does not hinder the CoD4 community from taking down everything that isn't Halo 3. Real football (FIFA) manages to beat out American football (Madden), and surprisingly, people are still playing Grand Theft Auto.
Russ Frushtick and Chris Plante delivers a debateable list of the games that offer infinite replay - the most value for your gaming dollar. Personally, I feel there are some glaring omissions including grind-heavy and replay friendly titles like Disgaea 3, Pixeljunk's Eden and Monsters, SPORE, NEVERWINTER NIGHTS 2 (because of the ugc adventure packs) *stern look thrown Plante's way* and Way of the Samurai 3 (though I'm the only one in the office with the import and can hiragana/katakana and s...
"We here at IGN have several favorite Xbox Live Arcade games. Puzzle Quest, Undertow, Pac-Man Championship Edition, Prince of Persia Classic
We could go on.
It would appear that the masses do not share our taste in downloadable games, though, as none of these titles made the list of top ten XBLA games for 2007.
Major Nelson has released the list over on his blog. It seems most gamers overwhelmingly favor retro games over original content."
