The NPD Group before the weekend released the top twenty software and top ten software by platform lists for the January 2009 sales numbers, showing the top rankings in software sales for the month. The top ten rankings for accessory sales are also available.

THQ's CEO Brian Farrell, has given a talk at the BMO Capital Markets Interactive Entertainment Conference to take a look at their goals for the next several months. The main concept, "fewer, higher-quality games".
They're going to do this by looking at the areas they detailed being "core market, kids' games, family games, the female audience, and online gaming". Note how they made females a separate category.

Mario Kart Wii has snatched the lead from the Wii Fit game, the Wii Play bundle is still selling steadily in third, followed by the oh-so-popular Super Smash Bros. Brawl and SingStar Amped.
Most of the games in the overall sales list are either the from the Wii or the DS. With all the success Nintendo has been having lately, I'm not surprised. To check out some console-specific sales, hit the source.

WWE Smackdown 2008 is appearing all over IGN's most popular game lists, the problem is that nearly every version of it is #1 on the lists. Somehow the DS, PS2, PSP, Wii, PS3, and mobile versions of the game are the most popular games on the site, beating out far more popular games such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Phantom Hourglass, and more. Something isn't right here...
We finally have more information on WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2008. A must read if you are a fan of the WWE SmackDown! series. A few things were confirmed in this article. If you choose to play an extreme rules match you'll be able to choose which weapons you bring down to the ring with you via the match setup menu. Also since this game is on multiple platforms except a few differences but other then that the PS2 version will pretty much be the same as the XBOX 360 version and the PS3 just a bit...
Two new Wrestlers were announced to today to be added to Smackdown vs RAW! 2008. They are Jeff Hardy and Sandman.
They will be joining the current ensemble of Undertaker, Bobby Lashley, Kane, Triple H, John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Chris Masters, and Randy Orton and will make it a total of 10 wrestlers to choose from. Hopefully there will be more names being added in the near future as well.
