"GamingUnion: "Even though the first two Yakuza games had a secure place in the PlayStation 2's library, fans had to fight to see a release for Yakuza 3 on the PlayStation 3. For a long time, they believed it wouldn't happen, but Sega did relent and brought the game to western shores over a year after the Japanese release. This wasn't without cost though, as Sega decided to cut content out in order to facilitate the move.""
"Tell me this isn't familiar: you decide to return to that great RPG you never finished. Maybe it's weeks later, maybe months. You boot up your mid-story save only to realize you've forgotten where you were, what you were doing and how to do it (or anything). Congratulations: your barrier for entry is now a giant, fiery chasm of doom."

"If you’ve been sleeping through 2010 and waiting for the holiday gaming season, it’s time for you to wake your ass up. Our editors have picked their favorites and there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it… like slamming a Red Bull, electrifying your nipples, and taking a baseball bat to the groin all at the same time, these titles will rock your world."
"In the real world, nobody wants to go up against a member of the Mafia. Their ruthless and cutthroat (or shall we say cut-your-throat) tactics are positively vicious. Whether faced with the vengeance of an underboss, a soldato, or a lowly associate, the Mafia is not an organization you want to mess with."

After hours of messing about with the demo, it was with great excitement that I sat down with the full game. Could it possibly be as good as the demo for the whole length of the game?
"The Yakuza series made its debut back in 2005 on the Playstation 2. Now, the neon-lit underworld of Japanese mafia, expensive suits and large back tattoos has made its way onto the PS3. Yakuza 3 has gathered enough momentum to finally make it across Japanese borders, but is this gang giant putting up a hefty fight, or should the feud be put to sleep?"
This past March was packed with many new blockbuster releases as well as lesser known but equally as great titles. So which games stood out the most for the month?
"The structure of the game will be instantly familiar to fans of the series, with players venturing through Okinawa, and later Tokyo, engaging in a number of missions, combat and assorted distractions. The variety of the story advancing missions has been improved drastically, with a much greater amount of attention having been paid to the pacing. Often cited as one of the most important aspects of developing modern story-driven games here at Electronic Theatre, Yakuza 3 may not have perfected ..."
"Yakuza 3 is yet another great entry into one of the least appreciated “big name” game franchises outside Japan. The sales-versus-quality ratio is way out of whack, and it's likely this game will continue the tradition of being almost completely ignored by anyone who isn't already a fan of the series. That's a real shame, as the series continues to be entertaining from beginning to end, offering stories full of drama and mystery, an insane amount of potential adventures, and top-notch battle m..."

"This week's now shipping will bring a fantasy game like no other that finally see's its debut in North America and Europe, the chinese mafia and a good amount of downloads to keep you busy for awhile."
"Yakuza 3 casts the player as Kiryu Kazuma on a quest to seek a new life in Okinawa. Travelling with Haruka, the pair decides to manage an orphanage for children together. All seems well, but their peaceful life is soon interrupted when a series of events unfold that pull Kazuma back into the shadowy past he thought he had left behind."
"The Yakuza 3 demo is kind of weird – it expects you to have some knowledge of the franchise and doesn't really spend time explaining basic concepts, so newbies might be lost at first. Still, after some adjustment, it shouldn't be too difficult to pick up the simple - yet still deep - controls and kick ass. The franchise is not for everyone; it's very Japanese and Yakuza 3 doesn't really bother to explain these very Japanese things. It expects a basic understanding of what they are, why they'r..."
Not only is Yakuza 3 being released in America at an unfortunate time, but it looks like some content has been cut for its Western release, including the infamous hostess bar sequences. Kotaku believes this is a giant mistake...
"The intrigue of Yakuza comes from an intricately detailed, open world that allows players to move at their own pace. The fact that you can play with the intention of not advancing the main storyline is what has everyone turning his or her focus on this very title."
"The English demo for Yakuza 3 was released this past Thursday on the U.S. Playstation Store for the Playstation 3. It was identical to the Japanese version released last year with the one big exception: the removal of the Ageha Club (and, to a lesser extent, the Answer x Answer quiz mini-game)."
2010 has been great for Playstation 3 gamers so far with games like Heavy Rain and MAG. It is about to get even better this spring, especially when it comes to exclusive titles slated to come out for the system.

The first game release in the US received a full English makeover, but not Yakuza 3, it will follow the path of Yakuza 2 released on the PS2, using only subtitles.

"Most high profile games these days have a regular edition and a collector's edition. Yakuza 3, however - at least in PAL territories - will only have a collector's edition. Making it regular!
Sega announced today that only one version of the game is to released in Europe and Australasia, with that version given a standard price along with some not-so-standard inclusions.

After a long drought, an abundance of Japanese role-playing games will be heading to the Playstation 3 in full force this year. So which upcoming JRPGs will be worth picking up?
"With the possible exception of unexplainable, extraordinary inspiration, the factors which define a game’s quality are roughly quantifiable. The success of a game, however, involves slightly more chance, as the variables are less precise. When is the best time to launch a new PS3 exclusive FPS? Is there a market for fighting games on the Wii? The Western audience likes Final Fantasy – shouldn’t it like other Japanese RPGs? These answers can be approximated with figures and graphs and surveys ..."
The Playstation 3 has gotten some excellent exclusive games over the past two years. 2010 is shaping up to be yet another great year for PS3-only titles.
"The Yakuza series has constantly been mishandled by SEGA in North America. The first game was billed as “Grand Theft Auto, but with Yakuza“, despite the game having almost nothing in common with Grand Theft Auto. The second game was marketed poorly and released on the PlayStation 2 last September, so it unsurprisingly sold poorly. No one was expecting Yakuza 3 to ever come out over here. Recently, however, they did announce it was coming to North America. I was ecstatic, until they said what ..."

"About a month ago news broke that Yakuza 3 (also known as Ryu ga Gotoku in Japan) would finally be making its way to North America. Despite the previous Yakuza games performing poorly in North America fans would have the chance to continue the adventure of running about Tokyo and getting into brawls when they're not eating noodles or singing karaoke at a hostess bar.
The one question that remained though was who was going to publish Yakuza 3 and if the game would retain the original Japan..."

In what is AAG's first Playstation 3 review, our newest team member Yuto Hayasaka takes a look at Ryu Ga Gotoku from Sega. Ryu Ga Gotoku in Japanese literally translates into ‘Like a Dragon’. This is the fourth instalment of the action based RPG series developed by Sega which first appeared on the PS2 back in 2005.
"Wow, that looks awesome. The bundle pack isn’t a bad deal either, providing you were going to buy Ryu Ga Gotoku 3 and an 80GB PlayStation 3 on the same day. You save nearly 2,000 yen ($21.50) with the Ryu Ga Gotoku 3: Rising Dragon pack, which retails for 45,980 yen ($495). In the future the price of the Rising Dragon PS3 should rise too since Sega is only making 10,000 of these available."
Today at the Tokyo Game Show it was revealed that popular fashion model and transsexual Ayana Tsubaki will make an appearance in the upcoming title Yakuza 3 as an oil massage therapist. She will offer the player massages to revive them and replenish their health. Now that's an interesting way of regaining your health in a game.
