A guy made a video on YouTube doing what I remember GameTrailers did quite a while ago, explaining the Zelda timeline. This guy did a complete job imo, very well done, and should be watched. However, he has received a response from Nintendo about this timeline saying.. there is no timeline. I've included the original video and the response in the quote.

Amazon has created a product page for a new book titled The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy, which is being edited by Luke Cuddy. The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy is the latest book to enter the "longrunning Popular Culture and Philosophy series."

The publisher of the book believes it will answers many questions about the Zelda series, ranging from seeing Hyrule as an ideal society to considering Zelda art.
