Video games make good Movies. Video Games also make good fake Movie trailers. They are hilarious and coming from video games you would never expect. So check them out!
"Right from the start Nintendo saw the need to cash in on the popularity of its franchise. Alarm clocks, cutlery, towels, bed sheets nothing could escape. Most of it wasn’t worth the plastic it was made from but even today its good to look back at the early days of an industry giant, dipping its toes into merchandising."
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has often been called the best game ever made since it came in 1998. Mitch Krpata of Joystick Division explains why that's totally not true.
So yesterday we got a first look at the Master Quest on the 3DS remake of one of the best selling Zelda games of the franchise - Ocarina of Time. Today, courtesy of nintendo3dsblog.com, footage has now been released showing, in more detail, the harder version of this epic adventure game.
GoNintendo have released information on the Master Quest in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS! For those uninitiated into the Master Quest, it's an unlock-able feature that you can get after the first play through of the game in which the game is made harder. What we now know is that monsters will deal 2x the usual damage, Puzzles have been changed or altered in some way and the entire world has become mirrored (see images below)
""When I ask myself why Ocarina of Time has been remade, there are both the positive answers and negative ones. I wonder if the reasoning behind the remake is truly appropriate, or more sinister. It worries me, and I try to just ignore it and focus on the fact that soon we will get to play as the Hero of Time in 3D, but I can't drown out those voices. It worries me that deep down; Nintendo just can't get over Ocarina of Time. I mean, was Twilight Princess even really that different?""
"GameZone has gathered our staff to discuss the Top 25 Nintendo published games of all time. Over a month period of time, we deliberated, we debated, we even exchanged a few red turtle shells to knock each other out of the running to nominate our favorite games, but most importantly, we gave tender care to our personal list that we reveal to you today."
"And they got married and lived happily ever after." Romantic love is important to people not only in real life, but in stories and myths. The Zelda games, however, seem to lack any kind of fully developed romance. But the fan fiction, art, and discussions the games have spawned are full of references to romance (yet ironically, you would be hard pressed to find references to dungeon puzzles). Even if the main topic of the fan fiction or fan art has nothing to do with romance, people slip in h..."
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time features a colorful cast of characters that are arguably some of the most memorable characters in gaming. These are the top 5 non-player characters in the classic Nintendo 64 title, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time hosts some of Link's fiercest battles. From childhood to manhood, Link faces an onslaught of ghosts, monsters, evil spirits, and the Evil King Ganondorf himself. This list details BrightHub's top 3 boss fights in Ocarina of Time.
From the Great Deku Tree to Lord Jabu-Jabu; from the infamous Water Temple to the dark dwelling that is Ganon's Castle; The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time features some of the best dungeon design in the series. This is BrightHub's list of the top 3 dungeons from Ocarina of Time.
What do controller rumble and Earthbound have in common? They're both missing from the Virtual Console. This is a list detailing games and features that are sadly missing from Nintendo's retro download service on the Wii.
"The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the greatest game that I’ve never completed. Before I’m lynched for such an admission – I have actually seen the vast majority of the game’s content. It’s just that I have never completed it. Instead I watched my friend play it to completion."
"A project nearly eight months in the making, Zelda Informer is proud to present our staffs Top 5 Zelda Game listing. It's always a great debate on what games are truly the cream of the crop, but these 5 titles, no matter how many re-votes, discussions, and debates... always rose to the top of the pile."
"Nothing is certain in today’s game industry. But the closest you’ll come to a sure thing is that movies based on video games suck. There are exceptions, sure. But most of the time, gamers end up regretting their ticket purchase after watching their favorite game get some off the wall adaption on the silver screen that fails to encompass any of the elements that made the game so good. So to save the movie industry some time, we’ve compiled a list of the top 5 games that need to get big screen ..."
"Lets look at things objectively first. Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma have both staked claims that Link is you. It's often the reason given that if voice acting were to happen, no one wants Link to talk. Often times it the reasoning we have for him not having as much emotion as someone who is saving the world should have. Developer intent is that Link is us, so thus, he must be. Not so fast."
"10. Magic Powder (Link to the Past, Link’s Awakening)
The first item on our list is particularly strange. For starters, you get the magic powder in Link to the Past by finding a magic mushroom and giving it to a witch. Once acquired, the magic powder has many weird uses, ranging from transforming your enemies to waking up a mysterious bat-like creature who makes your magic more powerful. The most awesome use of the magic powder, however, is transforming a cucco into a human in Kakariko, who ..."
The Kartel combs through hundreds of video game commercials over the last 25 years, and picks out the ones that are worth watching again. Great nostalgia all the way from the NES era til today.
A guy made a video on YouTube doing what I remember GameTrailers did quite a while ago, explaining the Zelda timeline. This guy did a complete job imo, very well done, and should be watched. However, he has received a response from Nintendo about this timeline saying.. there is no timeline. I've included the original video and the response in the quote.
"Videogame history is littered with rage and frustration. While we all love and cherish this noble hobby we call gaming, it has still been the source of thrown controllers, broken furniture and endless streams of curse words. While much anger has been had at bad level design, cheap deaths and wasted money, plenty of rage has been reserved for the characters themselves.
Game characters can be incredibly annoying. This is the result of an industry where game developers try to be writers, and ..."
"The times may change, but the legend remains: A dark wizard, a princess in peril, and an emerald-clad boy as the kingdom's only hope. Like all great fables of times long past, the story of Link has changed much over the years, retold in a new way for each coming generation, but timeless nonetheless. It's a legacy few other franchises can equal, and these 22 years have elevated Link to stand among the upper echelon of video game royalty.
That kind of legacy means walking a delicate line; co..."
"Tossing aside the standard temporal ocarina for something a little more complex, a "Flute Link" cosplayer performed on stage at this year's Masquerade show at the Otakon 2008 in Baltimore, bringing Navi in tow. It's a great performance, although it's hard to tell when she's playing live and when it's pre-recorded (for demonstrationg of her live performance, we also embedded a video of Flute Link performing Tetris with an Otaku band.
And for anyone who ever wished Navi would get her what fo..."
Amazon has created a product page for a new book titled The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy, which is being edited by Luke Cuddy. The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy is the latest book to enter the "longrunning Popular Culture and Philosophy series."
The publisher of the book believes it will answers many questions about the Zelda series, ranging from seeing Hyrule as an ideal society to considering Zelda art.
"Console and handheld modder Michael Page mailed in to let us know about his latest creation: a custom Blue & White Zelda DS Lite. Inspired by Morpheon Mods Gold Zelda DS Lite, this one-of-a-kind mod features a finely detailed design of Links shield embellished in a metallic hue with two small green LEDs hidden beneath, as well as a sleek glossy sky blue paint job."
Nintendo is arranging some form of Zapper demo using a Zelda mini-game called Zelda Crossbow Training. Could this be the Zelda that was said to be in the works, and is this one game or is it going to be a mini-game collection? Believed to use the Twilight Princess engine, the demo was shown off to GameStop managers in Las Vegas today.
"If you paid close attention to yesterday's Phantom Hourglass commercials, you might've spotted the lobster design (or is it a crayfish?) on Link's shield. What do you think of the new look? Wind Waker fans should recognize the crustacean shape, as it originally showed up on our hero's pajamas in the GameCube game.
Link's shield has been as much a staple of the Zelda series as the adventurer's green cap, deflecting octorok attacks and pushing away charging enemies. Over the past two decades..."
