Get your nostalgia on!
The rise in the Nintendo Wii has caused many to speculate if there will eventually be no need for your traditional controller. theGamerBuzz tackles this critical issue and tells you why we will always have a controller in our hands. Cheers!
"At the end of the trailer, the figure vanishes from sight, leaving diamond-shaped particles in his wake. Many have rightly compared this visual effect to what happens when Twilight creatures dissipate - they too leave behind small particles, although these particles are blackened, presumably an aftereffect of a long stay in the Twilight Realm. Could this similarity be a bona fide connection? Could this strange man be an ancestor of the Twili?"
Countless naysayers often crusade against video games, riduculing both the medium and the people who play games. What these individuals don't understand is that video games often breed creativity, require problem-solving skills, and encourage gamers to think outside the box.
The 2011 Wii release schedule is pretty barren as far as third party games are concerned, but what if 3DS and Wii multi-platform games become a trend?
What can you play if you're a fan of The Legend of Zelda and don't actually own or like the Wii? Bright Hub gives you the skinny on a number of different titles that Zelda fans are bound to enjoy.
"Twilight Princess continues the tradition laid down by the original Legend of Zelda title as the story of a historic battle between light and darkness, but beneath the samey epic framework is a much deeper narrative: a tale of redemption. In a more direct way than ever before, we follow its world and its characters as they experience their own Fall from Grace, both in an allegorical sense as well as a literal one. If you expected the Grandest Tale Ever back before the game's release and found..."
With both Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time 3DS just around the corner, 2011 is shaping up to be one hell of a year for The Legend of Zelda, and why not, seen as it is the famous franchises 25th anniversary. On top of that WWE fans will get a kick out of the puns in this piece.
"Even today, the “Triforce” appears all over Japanese society. You find it on everything from company logos to souvenirs. And it comes as no surprise, since the aesthetically beautiful symbols of the samurai have found their place in modern Japanese graphic design. These symbols are, in fact, meaningful even to the Japanese in their modern context."
The title sounds somewhat of a fairy tale story don't you think? Well good, because IGN take a look back at games that most young Fantasy RPG veterans have grown to love. A name that have become beholden to Nintendo ever since it's inception in 1983 on the Famicom Disk System. So sit back, relax and read on for a little history lesson on one of our favorite RPG Fantasy heroes - Link.
"“Princess Zelda”. Almost every Zelda game contains some reference to its namesake, the Princess of Hyrule, Zelda. Whether she is masquerading as Sheik or Tetra, if she is there in person or in spirit, or if we see her in the game or in a flashback, Zelda is always “Princess” Zelda. It’s as if Nintendo made the word “Princess” her first name and “Zelda” her surname.
I will admit that I am quite the Princess Zelda fan, and often find myself wondering why we see her acting in the role of the ..."
"Everyone has that video game they absolutely love. Everyone has that video game that they can play for hours on end. Everyone has that video game character that has won their heart and everyone has that video game character that they absolutely hate..."
"I picked up this game primarily because, well, it looked like a hilarious parody of Zelda. And if a game is able to make fun of itself well enough to extract laughter out of me, well, that’s just icing on the cake. (And from the advertisements of the game, I pretty much figured that the humor content would be through the roof. If you haven’t seen them yet, you really should.) And so, I figured I would this game would be a shoo-in for me to love.
So imagine my surprise when I wake up to fi..."
"“Tell me something – Do you ever feel a strange sadness as night falls?”
Strange sadness. Better words could not be found to describe the most recent of the console Zelda games, Twilight Princess. A melancholy air pervades the tale, much like the Twilight creeping over the land. Unlike the twilight though, the gloom doesn’t recede with the coming of the hero, or the fall of Ganondorf. Rather, it seems to stay all the way through, leaving gamers with the feeling that despite their best effo..."
"The next E3 is just around the corner. But before the innovation (3DS) and excitement (new Natal and PS Move games) begins, join me as I look back on this impeccable event and rank the show’s past five years."
Plot and Gameplay are two integral pieces of making a fantastic quality game, and this is no different with Zelda. But what makes a Zelda game be remembered for years and latch into the hearts and minds of players?
"Lets look at the complaints about Zelda that have been uttered since Ocarina of Time. Majora's Mask's 3 Day system makes the game unaccessible and the game is "too hard". Oracle of Seasons and Ages were not made by Nintendo, the boss fights are too difficult, and the combined ending was too convoluted to expect anyone to experience it. Four Swords and by extension The Minish Cap is too easy. Twilight Princess is too much like Ocarina of Time. Phantom Hourglass is too cartoony, stylus controls..."
"With The Legend of Zelda series being one of the most successful gaming franchises to date, what I am about to say will probably come as a shock, but none the less, it is all true. In its current state, The Legend of Zelda franchise will not ever be, and is not currently respected by the average hardcore gamer. It is my intention to state what elements of the game that needs changed to bring the series up to par and make it more worthy of respect. While stating all of this however, I will not..."
There's been some talk going around lately about the relationship between Nintendo and third party developers. An example being difficulty with hardcore third party titles. Lee Evans has posted a blog entry going over some facts and figures in an effort to shed some light on the matter and the severity of the situation.
"I recently completed Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for the Wii (expect the full review in the next issue of ONM, out on 12 February). What impressed me most wasn't the graphics or the gameplay - both of which are fantastic, by the way - but the storyline. It's the closest I've come to playing a movie on the Wii, and the plot's full of twists, turns and surprises."
"Bombs have a rich history in the Zelda world. They have been around ever since the series was created, and have only not appeared in one title to date (The Adventure of Link). There are 14 different types of bombs created over the years and there are surely more to come. They have been used to find hidden passage ways, solve puzzles, and to defeat enemies. The bomb has truly become a staple in Link's arsenal, so it's time to go through the history of this now legendary item."
"Darksiders is considered by many to be a great game, albeit one that suffers from an intense case of plagiarism. Comparisons to the The Legend of Zelda run amok, with even the game's developer, Vigil, happily confessing to borrowing gameplay elements from the classic Nintendo franchise.
Let us at least try and be honest here. If you've played one Zelda game, you've played them all. Some stupid little elf starts off doing nothing, goes to a dungeon, gets a boomerang, gets a hookshot, gets ..."
"Just about ever video game franchise focuses on the adventures and trials of one or a few major characters within their respective universes. Link, Zelda and Ganondorf are the three individuals when applying this formula to The Legend of Zelda. These characters are the center of nearly all of the games in the series, with their roles differing slightly each time they appear. However, while we control Link, we encounter various side-characters that offer us help along our journeys in the land ..."
"Lets look at things objectively first. Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma have both staked claims that Link is you. It's often the reason given that if voice acting were to happen, no one wants Link to talk. Often times it the reasoning we have for him not having as much emotion as someone who is saving the world should have. Developer intent is that Link is us, so thus, he must be. Not so fast."
"So, what of the Wii for the future? At Nometet.com we hope that game developers will wise up to whats good about the Wii, and make a game where you can wave your Wiimote about and make your own moves, where you can use the balance board to shift the centre of gravity of your character, leading to a sweet game not unlike Mirrors Edge only a lot more advanced. We predict said game will arrive at the same time as the nuclear apolocalypse. Or when people stop worrying about Sarah Palin. The apo..."

"Ive been scouring the Internet for months in search of a recipe for video game foods. It hasnt been easy. The bakers and cake decorators who know how to create really amazing desserts dont seem to want to share their cooking secrets, leaving me with recipes for companion cube cakes that look rather disgusting. So, inspired by my friends at Nerds Gone Wild! Magazine, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I decided to bake Triforce shortbread cookies."
