If you're one of the many experiencing problems with your PS3 and its disc reading abilities, check out PlayStation Lifestyle's repair guide, courtesy of fellow GameGrepper DoucheVader.

If you are having disc read errors this guide may be of assistance. If your discs seem to be loading fine (mechanically) but do not read it's likely your laser is bad.

This fix is for those of you that don't seem to have problems running downloaded games and using media off of sources that are not the drive. Most often this is caused by the Blu-Ray laser going bad.

This will require a part KES-400AAA looks like the going rate is $70-$100.

For $109 US you could have it fixed at the repair place that is fixing mine under warranty. I saw on their site they fix them at that flat rate also.
