    i have gone toe to toe with an assault as a recon before and won. several times. the starting pistol for every class (Beretta 92 i believe it is) is actually pretty good if you simply unload on someone and aim for the top of their torso/neck so that you are more likely to get at least 1 headshot in there. ive killed several people with the pistol when they had rifles. its not, however, practical against more than 1 enemy at once most times.
