Media Create Preview: 08/04/08 - 08/10/08: Fire Emblem DS 145k, Tales of Vesperia 108k

Japanese newssite GPara has just posted the top 30 software rankings for Japanese sales tracker Media Create, with again more new releases breaking into the top thirty, along with some familiar faces still sticking around, and others experiencing some continued strong sales, for the week of August 4th to August 10th.

This week's new releases in the top thirty:
02. [NDS] Fire Emblem: New Shadow Dragons and the Sword of Light (Nintendo) - 145,000 / NEW
04. [360] Tales of Vesperia (Namco Bandai) - 108,000 / NEW
06. [NDS] Sangokushi Taisen Heaven (Sega) - 33,000 / NEW
07. [NDS] Summon Night 2 (Namco Bandai) - 30,000 / NEW
12. [NDS] Code Geass Theater R2 (Namco Bandai)
16. [PS2] Aoikuro no Kusabi: Hiiro no Kakera (Idea Factory)
18. [NDS] Monster Farm DS2 (Tecmo)

Only seven new releases made their way into the top thirty this week, headlined by Nintendo's Fire Emblem: New Shadow Dragons and the Sword of Light for the Nintendo DS and Namco Bandai's Tales of Vesperia for the Xbox 360, selling 145k and 108k copies respectively. Numbers for the Vesperia 360 Bundles are not included in the software sales, but rather in the hardware sales, where we could conceivably see the 360 sell more than the PS3 this week. According to sinobi's blog, we will not see the 360 sell more than the Wii this week due to apparent shortages with the Vesperia bundle.

As for not-new releases, Phantasy Star Portable (PSP) and Rhythm Tengoku Gold (NDS) still are going strong in the second weeks, with the latter already surpassing its GBA predecessor. Dragon Quest V (NDS) has also now surpassed a million units, becoming the newest million seller in Japan.

As for the console breakdown, the DS leads with 12 games in the top thirty, followed by the Wii with 7, the PSP with 4, the PS2 with 3, and the 360 and PS3 bringing up the rear tied at 2 games apiece.

The top fifty software sales rankings, along with the hardware numbers for the week will be available later today.
