The possibilities are endless, huh ?

Well they will be when NeuroSky and Square Enix unveil their brainwave controlled game at the Tokyo Game Show on Thursday ( 9th October ). Could this be the next evolution of gaming ?
Wearable bio-sensors manufacturer NeuroSky intends to exhibit a brainwave-controlled video game, which was co-developed with Square Enix (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest), on October 8 - 9 at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.

“At Square Enix, we are actively involved in developing a variety of gaming interfaces," eays Square Enix producer Ryutaro Ichimura.

"I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work with NeuroSky, and apply their advanced sensor technology in this brain-wave controlled game demonstration. Although the main purpose of the demo is to test the results of our short development period, I hope it also unlocks new potentials in gaming."

Whilst quite interesting, I'm fine with a controller for now.

I honestly think this could be the future of gaming..but like Xenc says..people are probably fine with controllers for now. The Wii is as far as we're ready to go at the moment, it seems. Haha.

Well, either way I think people will probably want the old keyboard/mouse or controller setup, hey? Then again, I havent tried this new fangled brainwave tech yet..

While I love controllers, I wouldn't mind giving this a shot. Whether people like to admit it or not, technology is growing to a point where controllers may no longer be the norm for games in the next decade or so.

As long as its safe and doesn't cause cancer, Im all for it.

I want to make a joke about whether or not this will work for idiots but I can't figure out how to do it without making myself look like one.

    Shame your brain isn't very active Cruxis I bet you would've liked to have tried this. ;.;

It would be fun to try out but I like my controllers/keyboard+mouse right now.

I'm going to predict this game will suck. Mind control sounds great but it honestly just does not work better than typical stuff, like controllers or a mouse.

Training them is an bother, and they are not as accurate as good ole fashioned controller.

Unless this is a big step from previous efforts...I'm going to say this mostly gimmick.

Its not going to be mega complex dudes.

Its going to be simple stuff, Like if you tense up and get angry that will increase your brain waves and so it would probably just make something move on the screen.

It will be simple games, the technology isn't there yet to make fully mind controlled games.

Even simple i'm not sure i want this, i mean controllers have proved themselves as fast and immediate methods of controlling games, i don't quite like the idea of using my brain. I think about enough shit everyday so chances are my real life troubles would interfere with my emitted brainwaves and cause the main character to jump off the edge of the level heh...

People DID play with this device (or something similar), on Unreal Tournament III. Worked fine they said, it was 'awesome' or something.

They still had to click to shoot, but movement and aiming was controlled by the device.

Yeah, a long way to go before we get easy, seamless brain to action based devices like you imagine a Sci-Fi would have, but it should happen eventually. Whether it is in our lifetime is debateable though.
