Back in June, EA announced that the Playstation 3 version of their upcoming title "Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3" was put on indefinite hold. In other words, they had cancelled that version. Later in September, it was still under indefinite hold. However, EA's David Silverman offers up a glimmer of hope for PS3 owners not willing to buy another console or PC for the game.

David announces that Red Alert for Playstation 3 is now back in development, and, he promises, will include extra content not found in the other two versions. He also says they will take advantage of the PS3's 1080p and Blu-Ray abilities, noting that he wants to make the delayed launch of the PS3 version worth waiting for.

He said: "When we announced Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 we announced there was a PS3 version, then we decided to go on the record and say that we've suspended it to make sure that RA3 was able to come out to the level of quality that it must adhere to to be called a C&C game. We've hit that mark, we've shipped the game. And you know what that means? That means there's another version left to be had. So there's definitely people working on a PS3 version and we'll be talking more about that later."

While Silverman wouldn't commit to a release date, he did say that PS3 owners will be "very pleased" if they bide their time.

"If you're a PS3 owner and you don't own a PC and you don't have an Xbox 360 you don't have to write on your Christmas or Hanukkah list that you want to have an Xbox," he said. "You can play Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, bide your time and you'll be very pleased. We're looking at doing some really cool things with the PS3 version. Since it is shipping later we're putting in a lot of cool content and really taking advantage of both the 1080p nature and the high-defness of Blu-Ray and also the fact that it can hold just so much more space."

Unfortunately Silverman wouldn't go into any more detail, saying: "I already gave you too much."

Awesome sounds good to me, personally i would love a game version that looks graphically superior aswell. Playstation 3 owners haven't had many reasons to show off since buying their consoles.

im very excited about this aswell. I will not buy this for my 360(tiberium wars was good, but after kanes wrath im holding off on buying another 360 C&C for a while) and my pc can run it but not at top specs. I cant wait to see the extras packed in and hopefully it will be worth the wait.

I always thought it wasn't their smartest moment when they decided to put the PS3-version was on hold.
The PS3 offers the best opportunity to sell some 'Red Alert Peripherals ( RA3 designed keyboard/mouse/possibly tablet )' bundled with the game to generate more revenue & profits for EA.

Anyway, good to hear from them the game is in development again, with extra's

Hurray to EA. I'm quite glad to hear this. When I saw a video of the game, it really did look like worth getting. I may just get this now.

I'm just wondering how long "released later" is for them. It'd be great to see it sometime before March.

This is the best news I have heard all week. I was going to get this for Xbox 360, but I'm completely happy to wait for a superior version with the PS3. Awesome news, and kudos to EA for recognising the PS3 as a formidable console in this race.

Im making a bold statement here, but PS3 has the best lineup for 2009. This is just another fantastic title to add to the game collection. Red Alert is an awesome series and I am sure this title will continue the tradition.

I doubt thats the case. Others said the same about 08 being Sony's year with fantastic titles over the others and so far it hasn't sparked nearly as much sales than most think. So I rather just wait before making crazy statements like that. Hell I couldn't care which one had superior lineup. Im just waiting for titles im interesting with. SF4, KZ2 maybe, FF13(hopefully), maybe some Dissidia and BBS.

Hmmm it is probably best to wait. And I totally forgot about Dissidia! Cannot wait til that is released! PS3 certainly needs more RTS games though!

        Yea, although thats for PSP.
Oh have you tried Pure yet? I played the demo and it was kickass. I might buy it, and I never bought any RTS in my time of gaming.

Big lie that is. So far the only real hit we've had this Fall season is LBP; R2 seems to be a mixed reaction. 360 has Gears 2, L4D and Fable 2.

          MGS4 would disagree with that.

But its not a Fall game though is it?

Still the PS3 and indeed most consoles have had an awesome couple of months. Great exclusive and multiplatform titles as far as the eye can see.

I was commenting on this particular statement, even though I didn't see fall. Either way I wasn't talking about fall lineup in the quote red copied. I was talking about the lineup of 08 as a whole.

          But its my fault though.

Awesome, the PS3 needs a half decent RTS.
