Former spyware-peddler WildTangent CEO (now President) has expressed his views that video game consoles are on the way out, and that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are the last consoles we will see out of either Microsoft or Sony.

I think you're looking at the last generation of consoles. I don't think Sony or Microsoft is going to make another console. The problem is that great graphics, which is what used to differentiate a console, are a commodity. Everybody's got it. You can't buy a PC that doesn't have Xbox or Nintendo-quality graphics anymore.

*sniffs* I SMELL A PC FANBOY.

Some people, including myself, can't afford the luxury of constantly paying money to upgrade their PC every year or so to keep up with improving PC graphics. A console is a one-time expense that will last for a good 5+ years.

I think thats a myth, for sure. If you know what youre doing, you dont have to do that..I'd say pc/console expenses are roughly even.

For some of us it is a hobby. I have fond memories of getting classic games like Space Quest (really any old school adventure-era Sierra game, Police, Space, Kings, etc), Wing Commander, and others. We had to to juggle config.sys, autobat files, dip switches and IRQ settings. This was pre plug-n-play.

That said, some of us grew out of that early PC era enjoying being able to tinker with our machines. We hate MACs (what? I can't swap out my CPU and overclock this thing, que pasa), and enjoy opening up our machines and tinkering with them.

It is a different type of mindset, and not for everyone. I consider it a hobby. Yeah my consoles are neat, but I prefer games on the PC, because of that history, my love of the platform, and the power/flexibility.

Or some of just don't WANT to play games on PC at all.

I have a grand total of 1 game for my PC.

I don't want to constantly upgrade my PC just to play games.

You don't have to constantly upgrade, that's bs. A decent graphics card would last you around 2-3 years plus, before you would even want to START considering an upgrade.

I don't care for gaming on PC at all.

Besides I can't play a game using a keyboard for any longer than 10-20 minutes without getting a VERY sore hand.

It can't be D cause its a joke to follow the sentence. So obviously none of the above would be the answer.

Seriously, this guy is an idiot. Both companies have alot of money and currently making the next console as we speak.

I'd actually say PC gaming has more to worry about than console gaming. I mean there's piracy, the rising requirements for good games, CD storage etc.

Seriously what the hell are you people doing or playing if you're having to buy new components for the PC yearly?
