Nintendo is doing so successful with its Wii and DS, that analysts say this overwhelming success will hurt the gaming industry as a whole badly. Being such powerful competition, Nintendo is pushing publishers to develop and release faster in order to keep up with Nintendo and get a small slice of the pie. This will cause lower quality games, which is never a fun thing, especially when it had the potential to be better. Although I'm a Nintendo enthusiast, I enjoy many other sources of gaming too. Hopefully other competition will rise up to Nintendo's success, since I would really hate for Nintendo to have to go down.

Boston (eCanadaNow) - Analysts have come out and stated that the success of Nintendo with their DS and Wii is bad for the gaming industry.

As of late Nintendo has been dominating the hardware and software sales of games around the world with the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii.

Analyst Todd Mitchell though has stated that “Nintendo is dominating software sales on its popular hardware platforms, leaving the publishers with a smaller slice of an only somewhat incrementally larger pie.”

He did state that the “DS and Wii are taking the videogame industry by storm.”

This is not all that good for publishers though as Nintendo could force them to get games out faster for their consoles.

“Moreover, we feel that the likely shorter product cycles of Nintendo’s platforms puts the publishers in a permanent catch-up mode. We think the upcoming releases of Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will highlight this phenomena [sic] this holiday season,”

The problem here is that sales on these consoles is largely dominated by Nintendo, forcing third-party publishers to try and compete.

What the...this sure is new. I never heard of something in the gaming industry being "too successful." It's been like this for years...third-parties can't compete, why try? It's like with hand-held games over the years, GB has always stood on top. Ugh, some people need a history lesson, heh.

But like the stock market, shares go up and down all the time. The console war will be like a roller-coaster ride for a good year or two, anyways.

Its called being too succesful to quick make high and quicker demands then screwing up games. Whats the saying slow and steady wins the race. Which is why ps3 will win lol

Well, how long has the DS been out? It's been a long time and it is still going strong, so I think that the Wii can hold it's own as well.

DS has been out I think for about almost 3 years now and still doing well.

I can admit the Wii hasn't had so many high rating games but they have pulled out some great games so far. Plus the games they are releasing in the future will be great to.

I'm not worried. If anyone is fit to be the dominant company of the gaming industry, it's Nintendo.

I agree. I hope Nintendo leaves both Sony and Microsoft in the dust, just as they're destined to do. xP

Lol. It is nice to hear this though. To be honest, I didn't expect them to do this well because of the difference in the graphics. This is great news to a Nintendo fan. =D

Nothing wrong with a bit of competition.

Like Mario_1 said, Nintendo fit this role the best.
