Not only are people in the gaming industry losing their jobs this holiday season, some games are being affected too. Champions Online is being dropped by Take-Two, however the fate of the game is most likely not lost completely.

Champions Online, the MMO currently being worked on by Star Trek Online developer Cryptic Studios, will no longer be published by Take-Two Interactive. While this may sound like bad news, keep in mind that Cryptic Studios is now wholly owned by Atari.

Odds are Atari is probably going to pick up the publishing rights to Champions Online, and by "probably", I mean "mathematical certainty".

I'm actually part of the Champions Online beta. Of course, because I agreed to a NDA with Cryptic Studios when I agreed to take part in the beta, I can only say that one exists. But if you were to ask me if it was awesome, I wouldn't say no.

Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge.

I thought the Star Trek MMO was canceled? The world has too many MMO's going on anyway, most of which fail.
