This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo is poised for a return to its old form.

Over 70 companies are listed as registered for the Entertainment Software Association's big event, which is more then double the number of attendees at last year's show. Heavy hitters Activision and Bethesda, along with Atlus USA, Vivendi Games, and Warner Bros. Interactive are confirmed to be returning to the show, which will be in the Los Angeles Convention Center this June.

There are a couple new rule changes this year, with one of which is the registration for the event. For the past couple of years the event has been invite-only. Now, there is a self-registration process, but is restricted to those individuals with credentials: US/International media, industry analysts, retailers, developers, and business partners. Two pieces of identification that shows that the person works in the industry is required. The other rule change is to allowance of the popular booth babes that graced the booths before being removed in recent shows.

The 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo will take place from June 2nd to June 4th.

This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo is taking a giant step towards returning to the glitzy, people-packed shows of three years ago, with attendance expected to be about ten times last year's show and the exhibit halls nearly the same size as the shows that once included ear-splitting rock bands, fire juggling and bikini-clad models.

E3 2009 will also see the return of a more relaxed registration policy for show-goers and rules that once more allow models on the expo floor.

The return to the size and glamor of earlier E3s comes after two years of downsizing and falling attendance at the show that once drew 70,000 people to Los Angeles to revel in all things video game.

It's quite funny that despite the economic crisis E3 has returned to it's most expensive format. The reason this all went away was because it cost so much to do.
