Square Enix's hot DS RPG, Dragon Quest IX: Hoshizora no Mamoribito, put up some impressive numbers this past weekend, and now the publisher has announced that the Level-5-developed title has now shipped three million copies in Japan. This puts the shipment numbers of the Dragon Quest series at 50 million units total worldwide.

Draogn Quest IX will see a Wi-Fi quest update on July 17th. The game's official site can be found here.
