Sony has released their first quarter earnings results for their 2009 fiscal year today. The electronics company posted a net loss of 37.1 billion yen (386 million USD) in the three quarters spanning from April to June 2009.
Sony attributes the loss to a slide to consumer spending, the strength of the yen, and the costs of restructuring, according to the Dow Jones. Sony's financial report notes the appreciation of the yen and the current declining state of the global economy.
Sony has also realigned their company's divisions, with the game division now falling under the Networked Products & Services segment. This NPS segment saw sales of 246.8 billion yen, but a 39.7 billion yen operating loss. The sales is a decrease of 37.4% from the previous fiscal year, mainly as a result of the decrease in unit sales of the PS3, PSP, and the Sony VAIO, along with foreign exchange rates. The operating loss is also attributed to the VAIO and Sony's game division.

What the hell are you on? Sales are down nearly 40% from the same time last year.
Most companies are in the shit.
I don't see how in the hell you can call this "progress".
thats like.... 120$ USD
or 7£
However, by taking a break next gen and then coming back the gen after that they could pull one of those "comback" things like coke did with coke original. Then the Playstation brand would be as strong as ever. However I extremely doubt this.
