I'm pretty sure that Amazon isn't Japan's prime source for buying and selling games and, therefore, it only represents a small amount of the Japanese gaming community. Is it not possible that out of this small group many enjoy western games, like Gears, and bought them from Amazon?
So, out of all Japanese gamers let's say around 3%, if not LESS, use Amazon. So, out of that 3% at the very least 75% use it for their PS3, Wii, DS or PSP. You're honestly saying that it is completely impossible for such a small number of Japanese people to have just liked Gears, bearing in mind that these are most likely actual gamer-gamers since casual gamers would be buying from shops or elsewhere.
You yourself acknowledged that only 0.9% of Amazon visitors are visiting from Japan; that number is TINY! If that's as a whole as well, not just gamers, then the number is MUCH smaller. Can you not open your mind to the possibility that out of that tiny, insignificant number they actually liked Gears? Is that not possible?
Not everything on Amazon is specified for Europian and American consumers. In fact, believe it or not, there is an Amazon specifically for Japanese people with products from... wait for it... JAPAN, shock horror. http://www.amazon.co.jp/
And yet you believe the only possible way anyone in Japan likes Gears is because they're not from Japan? Seriously?
This is why gamers have a bad reputation. There is a difference between stereotypes and known facts and the difference is proof. Prove something to be true or you have no right to call it a fact.
As for the amazon.co.jp thing, that site is actually the 14th most visited site in Japan. So when you consider a population as large as that, doesn't it still seem surprising that Gears sold so much in Japan from Amazon? Once again, not saying it's impossible, I'm just surprised. Especially considering the first Gears is doing so well too, it almost seems like the interest in FPS games has gone up in Japan. Otherwise, they wouldn't be purchasing such an old game.
It's also possible that the sales figures from the news source only include amazon.com, and not of it's international affiliates. If that's the case, then I doubt Japanese people went on an American site to buy the games unless they were American.
For the sake of our respective sanities, assuming either of us have that, I'm going to stop talking to you now.
Yes, that was immature but in other words, whatever. Carry on thinking that stereotypical bullshit, I hope ignorance is blissful for ya.
