Three weeks after announcing that the title had crossed the three million shipped threshold, Square Enix is now reporting it has shipped 3.5 million copies of its hit title Dragon Quest IX: Hoshizora no Mamoribito for Nintendo DS.

The game originally released on July 11th, and according to Enterbrain/Famitsu's sales numbers, it currently clocks in at 3,390,230 sold as of August 2nd.

    really tho, dragonquest isn't a bad franchise at all. it's a shining example of mediocrity done right.

      It's not only that it's a RPG. Dragon Quest is really, really popular in Japan, which boosts sales significantly.

          If they slapped Dragon Quest on a plate, a cup and made special Dragon Quest forks and knives, and sold them all separately, they'd make millions.

      I've only played 2 DQ games but that is enough to make me think that DQ is actually better than FF.The look and feel of DQ and some awesome features makes it overall better than FF imo.


      Still FFX is my favourite RPG ever.

    Those are pretty impressive numbers. SE has never been too wise in the Merch area. If they would have licensed McFarlane Toys to create FF toys years ago they would never report a fiscal loss. LOL
