After just a few days of the official announcement, other companies are now speaking out on Sony's price cut. EA and Ubisoft both praise this much needed price cut, as this will help software sales. Something both those companies dearly want.

"It's exceptional news, actually. I think the machine is a great machine, with the Blu-ray,” commented Guillemot, speaking to GamesIndustry.biz. "I'm happy that they were able to move to that [price point], particularly in the UK."

The redesign will help the PlayStation 3 shift more units in Europe, said Guillemot – a positive for Sony as well as the industry as a whole – as it now becomes a more attractive purchase to a mass market consumer.

I believe we will see more from Activision once the Slim ships. Amazon US and UK have had to limit orders to one console per household as the demand is that high in pre orders alone. Once Activision know that the PS3 is selling at £249.99 in the UK and $299.99 in the US they will congratulate Sony until then I don't really see much. Though as for hardware sales watch this space Sony may rank a hardware NPD stat in the millions for the month of September the way Amazon is calling the numbers and thats only one retailer.

You would think Kotick would've been the first one to say something.

    Announcement: PS3 massive price cut!
    Kotick: ....
    Announcement: ....price cut?
Kotick: Oh...I'm sorry, I didn't hear you, we're single handedly trying to rip consumers 2 brand new holes.
