It seems some *websites* like to elaborate (read: make up lies) about blueprints and "oh no, button layout looks like the PSP's button layout..it's a PSP phone!". Well, John Koller, Sr. Marketing Manager for the PSP posts about the subject on the official PlayStation blog.

quote
We haven’t announced anything about a new PSP, much less one that would have any phone capabilities. As SCEA’s resident PSP guru, I’m thrilled to hear that there’s so much interest in the platform, but sorry folks, these reports floating around fall into the rumors/speculation category.

So there you have it, the official word on it being a rumor. Then again this could all be a marketing ploy?! devious Sony, so devious.

I think this isn't too bad of news since I don't really care if they make a psp phone or not

Hmm. I wouldn't have minded having a PSP Phone. Well I'm glad Sony decided to squish the rumor.

They'll probably just try to pull a fast one on us to make it seem like they were the first ones to come up with the idea, as opposed to Sony taking the idea from the rumor.

Well i doubt that since the lastest article stated that the psp will be slimmer. Maybe they will call it the psp slim. LOL
But i knew this was fake, cause who cares about a psp phone, we already have a stupid thing called the Iphone.

A PSP phone seemed too much at the time. We have cell phones, and how weird would it look if you pulled out a PSP at the mall and started talking into it? Some people would think you were crazy. I'm glad they didn't make one.

I never even heard of a PSP phone, but it's okay that it is only a rumor, I am not very intrested anyhow.
