Over the last week in Japan, the PS3 has seen a massive increase in sales. This has been largely due to the release of a bundle pack with a 120GB PS3 Slim, the Mobile Suit Gundam Senki game, as well as a voucher for DLC. Retailers have been reporting rampant shortages, with some even claiming that increasing demand can’t be met with current stock levels. Here are the hardware sales for Japan in the last week from Famitsu:

PS3 - 151,000
DSi - 59,000
PSP - 23,000
Wii - 18,000
DS Lite - 5,600
Xbox 360 - 4,600
PS2 - 3,700

Makes me almost nostalgic. I remember when the PS2 was posting numbers that high on a weekly basis.

i fine and all but why doesn't the US get a ps3 slim bundle? we only have the hardware option even with the old 80gig. the only bundle we have is the 160 with uncharted and a pain voucher, but thats not even like a spec edition. its just a simple freebie

Don't need a bundle when most reputable stores tend to make their own ones up. I mean in the UK there are some stores bundling in a Slim with 2 games and a blu-ray movie for the same £249.99 cost. They have several bundles like that with different games and movie in each depending on tastes. The next official bundle the UK is getting and the only official bundle I believe we have ever received is the Fifa 10 250Gb PS3 Slim bundle. Official bundles are nice but often stores all over the world will make up better ones with the surplus stock they have leftover.
