Electronic Theatre reports on clarification of the suggested 2:1 ratio of Xbox 360 sales to PlayStation 3 sales of the incredibly successful Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in the UK.

Following the announcement of the first week’s UK sales figures for the phenomenally successful Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 yesterday, more detailed statistics have now revealed. With the suggestion that the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has seen the lion’s share of the retail success, these new statistics confirm that Microsoft’s console remains the dominant system in the UK for Call of Duty fans.

      Maybe UK players just don't care for the game much and didn't buy it...? Because I doubt they're all jumping ship for the 360 just for this game.

      It's pretty simple really, just split the amount of people who bought the game on console instead of PC into three; those with just a 360, those with just a PS3 and those with both. Those with only one console went with that console, leaving the people with both. Since the 360 has better online capabilities (and usually people with both are paying for LIVE anyway) and since COD4's (I'm not sure about WaW's, but it's a safe guess that it was for that too) playerbase was bigger on 360, the people with both go the xbox way as it makes a lot more sense.

    In the UK the game was advertised on the Xbox 360 as if it was a console exclusive. Complete with a media blackout on anything PS3, if Sony have an MW2 advert they weren't allowed to show it. It was Xbox 360 only as far as advertising went and that can do alot to sales.

      Pretty *bleep*ing stupid, because then all they advertise is how awesome Uncharted 2/Ratchet and Clank/Gran Turismo are...Great job.

      That's the reason I hate IW, it's like they hate any other console besides the 360. The game is amazing and is multiplatform, but they only advertise for the 360 which IMO is pretty lame of them.

    IW was paid by MS to advertise it mainly on the 360 in the same way Sony paid Ubisoft to center AC2 around the PS3.

    sure. the majority of the sales are because nobody knew it was on ps3, not because everybody wanted to play it on xbl where the biggest CoD playerbase is. it's that dirty M$ that is to blame.
