Retailer GAME has reported a sales fall of around 10%.

While 2009 saw the release of hugely successful titles like Activision Blizzard's Modern Warfare 2, like-for-like sales fell by roughly 15%, while total sales for the UK fell by 14.3%.

The retailer blamed the slump on rivalry from supermarkets. Chairman Peter Lewis stated, 'We have seen strong competition in all of the markets that we operate in. In the UK, in particular, we have seen significant pricing activity from the supermarkets.' However, he also claimed that the company's pre-owned section did well, with people looking for cheaper deals in the current climate.

Just to clarify - I will admit I made a mistake with the article. Modern Warfare 2 was published by Activision, not EA.

Gamestation offer guaranteed lower prices and higher trade in value too, that's why I switched retailers.

And do you wanna know why?

    IT'S BECAUSE THEY'RE BLOODY EXPENSIVE.

I don't think I've ever bought a game from them.
