In response to Capcom's complaints (then backtrack) about poor on the Wii console, WiiWare developer Bloober Team have said that the reason such games recieve low sales isn't because of a lack of audience fr mature titles. It's because the games simply aren't very good.

"With such a strong install base it's hard to believe that there's not enough people to appreciate mature, core content," said executive producer Marcin Kawa. "It's all about games and quality. I'm not surprised that another shooter on rails doesn't sell well. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that people expect something more than that.

"I bet No More Heroes 2 will do pretty good, as well as the new Metroid and Capcom's Monster Hunter. I hope that Last Flight will be successful and that's because we're making a game that was thought out as a Wii game.

"Instead of bitching," he added, "we'd rather create something that has value and doesn't feel like a third-rate port put together to make a quick buck."

It makes sense to tell Capcom to stop balming their problems on other people, but there are good Wii games that didn't do well for one reason or another. Okami and Zack and Wiki are often used examples.

Okami sold better on the Wii than it did on the PS2 though, despite the PS2 having a much larger user base and the fact Okami is a very niche title. I still wish it had sold a lot more mind you, but there really isn't much you can do with it aside from ramming aderts down people's throats at every corner.

Tbh, I think pricing has alot to do with it too. I wouldn't mind buying some of the rail shooters, but I'm just not willing to spend $50+ for them if they're only going to last me a few hours. Especially considering the RE rail shooters essentially retell the stories of previous games.

Even the used copies sell for around $50, if not more.

Indeed. I didn't buy Overkill or Extraction until they were £20 and £15 respectively, they're good games but I really don't think they justify the full price tag. I'd also say it has to do with ties in to other series regarding Extraction's and arguably Darkside's sales, given that many people considering them 'toned down' compared to the HD versions and rather simply decided they didn't want half-assed rail shooters attempting to cash in on the success of other titles. Whilst I personally don't take that stance I can certainly see why many people do.

Funny, Okami was the first thing that popped into my mind when I read this. x3
I think the price is a bigger turn off point than the game not being very good. Nobody is willing to risk a reasonable amount of money on a game that might be crap but they don't know how great the game could be because it's not popular.
