What's going on at Infinity Ward?

A G4 source from the Modern Warfare developer has stated that non-uniformed security types have shown up at the developers offices unannounced. Additionally, there are reports of the studio's heads, Vince Zampella and Jason West have met with Activision brass, but have not been seen since.

The state of affairs for the staff at IW are "freaked" and "concerned". Additionally, relations between Infinity Ward and Activision have been described as tense. G4 has contacted Activision for a comment but as of right now they have not heard back.

Something's happening at Infinity Ward right now.

A source close to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 developer just informed me that a "bunch of bouncer-types" just showed up outside of the Infinity Ward offices unannounced. When approached by employees, the non-uniformed "bouncers" were unwilling to disclose why they were there.

"Everyone is on edge," said my source.

Infinity Ward studio heads Vince Zampella and Jason West reportedly met with Activision this morning and have not been seen by Infinity Ward staff members since. My source did not delve into specifics, but described the relationship between Infinity Ward and Activision lately as "tense."

The mood around the Infinity Ward offices is currently described as "freaked out" and "confused."

"We just wanna make our games," said my source.

I've contacted Activision for comment on the ongoing situation at Infinity Ward. Stay tuned.

Saying things are viral is viral.

I really hope this developer gets disbanded and I never have to suffer through mindless hype for another Modern Warfare game. That would be an absolute blessing.

In the event of that happening, I would also hope that everyone affected would be able to find a job.

Eh, the series is massively overhyped, but it's a pretty decent game in it's own right. Been playing the CoD games for years now, so I may be biased, but IW have to be doing something right to get people coming back for more, and it ain't just the marketing.

The multiplayer is alright but the single player sucks now. Hasn't really been a very good campaign since COD2 I would say.

Didn't even like 4's? Seemed very well done to me.

Really? The campaign sucks? Whilst it doesn't have the greatest story in the world, it does play really well and I personally find it really enjoyable.

And anyways, when people say that it's a 'generic war shooter', i'm struggling to think of anything that stands out as a 'non generic war shooter'.

Brothers in Arms series is non-generic. Particularly Hell's Highway.

        And PC.
Genuinely moving stuff. And does a sick job of recreating scenes.

I thought it kind of sucked tbh. To repetitive and the times when you were on your own were so annoying!! Its like ffs why do you give me all this team game play elements and stuff just to take it away for half of the level. Some good moments in there though.

Brothers in Arms *facepalm*. Really not my sort of game, but I agree, that's pretty different.

Halo, I disagree with, I find it really boring and repetitive. Granted, it was different at the time, but even then I still thought it to be boring and pretty repetitive.

Halo in my opinion wasn't boring. The Halo universe is complex, and it took someone with a really good imagination to create it.

I agree when Halo 3 came out things starting going downwards.

You really need to read the books, or at least look at the Halo wiki timeline.

BTW the two guys who went missing turned out to get the sack from IW, even though they founded it. Parent companies FTL.

Thing is its not a bad idea to get sacked, in those guys shoes.

Basically they get to keep most of the money they made from selling out, and get to turn around and start a new game company, without all the limitations and qualifications of working under Activision-Blizzard.

But is this the thing you want to be doing in this economy?
