Report: Xbox LIVE generated more than $1.2 billion in 2009

Well, the old joke about Microsoft not making any money off of the Xbox 360 no longer applies as it is pulling in $1.2 billion off of Xbox LIVE alone.

According to a Bloomberg report, Microsoft is doing quite making money with Xbox LIVE. The combination of Gold subscriptions and paid content such as movies, game add-ons, and other content could drive the total number to more than $1.2 billion based on statements made by Microsoft executives.

    How much money does Microsoft need? They must have offices stuffed full of cash.

      That's revenue, not direct profits. Although the profits will still be plentiful.
