A study done by a Texas A&M professor shows that violent games may not be that bad for you after all. Actually, contrary to popular belief that they make you violent, they may actually do just the opposite.

A recent study by Texas A&M's Dr. Christopher J. Ferguson shows that long term exposure to violent video games allows both males and females to handle stress better than non-gamers.

When I'm a little pissed or stressed, I play a game which relaxes me, like Endless Ocean, not a shooter. I'll have to try this sometime Sounds fun.

Well, I think that in the right hands, this is true. To me, this WOULD be a good way to relieve stress, because I can smack people around to total a car and not worry about. These are things I would never do in real life. But for some people who may have psychological issues, this might have the opposite effect. But this is a very interesting article.

This has been known for a great amount of time. Even children have told their parents about the feat. I am not saying that what the parents are doing are wrong, or anything of the sort.. But the parents would think otherwise, or think that a violent game "Corrupts" them. Maybe at an early age, but in a range of 13,14,or even 15 and up, the majority of the audience will not be effected.. 8 to 12 year olds are obviously not ready for the type of violence that is presented in the game itself. They may have "friends" who have it, but that is up to their parents to deal with them.. In the coming days, as the rate of "bulling" goes up, Video games can be a solution and be a problem in these things. Bullies may have been introduced to violent Video Games at an early age, or may just have some problems at home. As the tormented, may have little or no video games. Obviously certain games can be harmful at earlier ages, but can remain harmless if introduced at an appropriate time. Games like GTA fall into this criteria, whereas Halo, or some fighting game like Street fighter would not...

If someone pisses me off at home I play GTASA and after about 5-10 of going on a murderous rampage I lose all my anger.

I totally agree with the article in the fact that violent games are a stress reliever. A buddy of mine at college gets pissed off, and he goes off to play a few rounds of Call of Duty, and is fine.
