Can you hear that? No? Well that's the sweet sound of Gamestop being wrong and my god does it sound good.

As you may recall Gamestop released an article detailing that the 3DS was set to be released this quarter in Japan, however soon after this story was published, the Nintendo representative shot the date down saying that an event will happen on September 29th but they only intended "to discuss launch timings, price and shipment details"

So alas, Gamstop was jumping to conclusions. Remember this day gaming fans, and never let them forget.

As some you have pointed out, GameSpot published an article that basically said the 3DS would be released in Japan this quarter (which is actually before the end of September). Here’s their full quote:

"Nintendo has confirmed to Bloomberg Japan that the 3DS is coming out in the island nation this quarter and that pricing and an exact release date will be revealed on September 29. Nintendo had previously announced that the handheld would be out in America some time in 2011 after confirming at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo it would be out this fiscal year. No dates for other regions have been confirmed."
