There have been more than enough rumours and articles about Sony's Playstation 3 and the various sizes of the Hard Drive, from the 60GB console being lowered in price, to being phased out, then theres recent news about the 80GB PS3 also getting a price cut, shortly after it was announced.

However David Reeve has gone one up on all the above, hinting that a 120GB version may be in the works. Also saying that European consumers would prefer value-added rather than a price cut...

...I wouldn't be too sure about that.

“The difference between 60 and 80GB is very small, we just feel that going up 20GB is not worth it,” Reeves told Norwegian website Dagbladet.
However, “If you go to double it, it’s worth it”, he added. “So maybe you’ll see something a little bit later.”

“We don’t think it’s necessary to reduce the price”, he continued. “We think that consumers want added value in Europe. We think it’s the right decision.”

So we have 60GB everywhere and 20GB in a few countries with not that much inside it

And today i have seen a pointless 40Gb and an decent 80GB thats coming out rather soon in most countries

Now a 120GB?? Its pointless having about 6 types of console, i think they should have the 60Gb which we have, the 20Gb which some countries already have and a 100GB

i just think its pointless having 20, 40, 60, 80 and 120GB, tomorrow a 100GB is bound to appear, i think its pointless paying another £100 for another 20GB when you could pay £150 for another 40-60GB

I think this is definitely getting out of hand. If they saw that we would need a 120GB why didn't they simply make only one console with 120GB rather than making a rather failed 20GB and a near extinct 60GB console? I honestly don't think I got my money's worth anymore, but then again, I know that other than gaming, I wont be using my PS3 for anything else, so I guess I wont use the 60GB anytime soon.

Can't you just buy an external hard drive and use it if you need more space?

That's what I plan to do IF I ever need more than the 60GB on my PS3.

    I won't be needing this, since I am saving up for a 500GB PS3..

Haha seriously though, I really doubt that such space will ever be required for a long time, if ever. What the hell is the price tag going to be on this?

If they keep updating like this, people will be waiting forever to get one. Sony needs to make up their mind and stick with a particular space size. Guess the 120GB is to compete with Xbox Elite.

    There's been rumours and releases of 20GB, 40GB, 60GB, 80GB and now 120 GB.

I predict the next rumour will be of a 100GB PS3 to fit the trend.

Na not a 100, 300GB ps3. Thats going to happen, since its 5 times as much as 60GB lol.

i don't know if its getting out of hand, but maybe needs rethinking.

Sony are doing a whole series of mistakes, they can take on the Wii really easily if they will just act as they need to.
    60GB PS3 for 399$ or less = Instant win.

I think they should NOT make a 40GB version. They should stick to 80 and 120GB versions. If they make one bigger than 120GB anytime soon, I'll be very pissed.

    A 120GB? That's a bit much, isn't it?

no? With the ability to soon download high definition movies and audio onto your Ps3, hard drive space is something that is going to be heavily needed. Also with games that are going to be downloaded directly onto the HD, such as warhawk and Socom....people want and need a larger hard drive

so much fudging around!!! Just sell a PS3 WITH NO HARD DRIVE for goodness sake! And tell everyone to buy an HDD of their choice.

Can't Sony see that this isn't what the fans want most?! (>_>) Focus on more important things, Sony!

    - - -

And I can personally say that I'd much rather a price-cut, as opposed to what Sony consider as "value".
To me, "Value" = price cut.

They think Europe doesnt want a price cut? Get real Sony!

Seriosuly if they kept the 60GB version and keep the price cut people would flock to it but Sony just keep making stupid decisions

i totally agree with that..instead of going through all the trouble to get a 80 GB or 120 Gb PS3 at a high price, they should just focus on the 60 GB at the initial price cut last week.. Their sales jumped so dramatically on Amazon.. they should have realised then that they could stand to make alot more money since demand would have sky rocketed..

Brings you to wonder who they hire as financial analysts in their company...
