Leipzig Games Conference is just around the corner, and during the event, Sony is expected to announce the addition of Freeview as a feature of the consoles. For those that don't live in the UK, Freeview, is basically a selection of channels that are pretty much free to watch.

The Video-on-demand service is expected (note that it's still a rumour at this point) to be brought to the systems before December of this year. To find out how much truth there is in this article, we'll have to wait till the Leipzig Games Conference.

so i am guessing freeview is going to be something like online free cable...because if it means providing a different means to watching normal free to air television in your country, i don't think it would be that useful..

Most likely they would put only very select programs on there, this definitely could be big!

Well, I have no choice but to admit it. This particular section kicks Nintendo butt. I just read Nintendo's design for the newest handheld, and it isn't going well.

Um, that new design is not real, it's an idea. That's just a fan made design that the neogaf forum thought up.

Question what does "isn't not real" mean is that like a double negative.

Anyway i think it can be big, though its still a rumor you gotta admit sounds great. I hope there is a sports channel is on it lol. Too bad i wish there could be like free pay per view on it lol.

Freeview is huge in the UK and it is just like any tv service it has subtitles if you want it and everything else, right now in the UK atleast Freeview is at like 120 free channels i mean sure there are paid services that give millions of channels but for some people 120 is fine and it will be in a PS3.

Interesting but I would just rather they dont put it in and I just spend £30 on the box if I really want it. If you can record onto hard drive now that is a different story.
