People have no appreciation for the purpose of this downtime. If Sony just put PSN back online again, there would more than likely be a fatal security breach within the week. By shutting them down as such, Sony can make sure that when the service is back online, no such breach can occur, or will ever occur.

It's only a couple weeks. Jesus, get a life people. Go outside for a change...

But what will all the FPS addicts do in that time? Oh my! What ever shall they do?

Seriously, it's spring time. Go outside, rake the lawn, go for a bike ride, wash the car, paint the house, make friends with real people instead johndoe1675. It's a great big white world. Learn to enjoy it. Wouldn't hurt some of these folk who live online to get a tan either.

FPS addicts should already have an Xbox 360 really.

I think you guys are trivialising the complaints a bit. While I'm sure people understand that Sony can't just bring up PSN again without thoroughly checking everything, that doesn't make the situation any better. People have paid good money for a console and games which are now only half playable. They have a right to complain.

Sure they have a right to complain. What's wrong about it is that some of them are acting like their livelihood has been stolen from them. I stand by what I said; some people need to get a life.

My comment was towards those who are addicted to video games and feel they can't live without it. I feel for the average Joe who wants to play online a few hours a week though.

      in·def·i·nite·ly

      adverb /inˈdefənitlē/

      1. For an unlimited or unspecified period of time
      * - talks cannot go on indefinitely

      2. To an unlimited or unspecified degree or extent
      * - an indefinitely large number of channels

There is no specified time as to when PSN will be back. Therefore, it will be out indefinitely.

Indefinitely ≠ Forever. Well, not always at least.

I'm glad they are taking the necessary precautions to fix this problem and attempt to prevent it from happening again...but Sony better expect hell if our identities are truly stolen...that really worries me.

To me, this whole thing isn't about being able to play online or not, as I really just play casually when friends are on.

The major problem with this imo is that with the all information that has been compromised, I really just want to log in and change my password and make sure my account is secured for the future.

same here. i could care less how long PSN is down for, i just want to change my password and remove any CCs i may have attached to it as a precaution. im not super worried about having my ID stolen but dont want to take chances.

Half playable? What happened to single player games? God, just play a game with a good single player, I don't get why people are so dependant or multiplayer this gen.

I think Sony has handled this pretty shitty tbh. It's been a week, and we just now hear that our information might be at risk, and "to keep an eye on it" So ultimately you either take your chances or cancel your card, cause we can't log in and change shit.... Wonderful

Another thing though, I see where you guys who say it's spring go out and get a life are coming from. I don't disagree, but there's something inherently wrong telling people how they should live, so imo that's not much better than just complaining. Not to mention I live in a place where there is snow on the ground, and on the forcast so, I won't be outside for a few weeks yet.

To be honest, I don't see how people can defend Sony on this one, even dedicated fanboys. I can deal with not having the service, but waiting a week to tell me so jackass may have gotten my payment information isn't acceptable.

I totally agree with you. I especially agree with the second paragraph.

Some people really rely on playing videogames to wind down after a hard days work. It's completely rational for those people to be pissed over this. Not everyone who's complaining over being unable to play games online is a loser who just lives to play videogames. I'd think that people on this site would look past that stereotype.

On top of that, people may not be paying for Sony's online services, but they do pay for games and now they can't get the most of of them. Granted, it's only been a week, so it's not exactly the end of the world, but I digress...
