Gaming Pioneer, and father of Nintendo franchises Mario/Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto speaks about the Wii Us functionality, and what the future could possibly bring for Nintendo.
Many people wondered why the Wii didn’t really offer much HD functionality, Miyamoto says they considered adding HD functionality to the Wii, but then opted out for various reasons. One of those reasons being that Nintendo didn’t anticipate the rapid penetration rate of HD televisions. Naturally at the rate HD televisions have grown, not adding HD functionality to the Wii U would be marketing suicide.

I personally just want a controller that's easy to use and looks cool. Having one with a screen on it and everything just seems way over the top to me.
