Contrasting with Famitsu's numbers, Media Create has the PS3 tracking barely above the Wii. Still notable, but the overall drop is pretty shocking. We can start entertaining various possibilities over what will happen in the next few weeks to these two streams.

The top software seller this week for a second time is Mario Party DS, selling 116k units. The second-seller this week is the newcomer Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii, selling 83k units. Rounding out the top five are the PS3 version of Shin Sangoku Musou 5 (PS3 - 76k), and newcomers Pro Baseball Family Stadium DS (NDS - 49k) at #4 and Game Center CX: Arino's Challenge (NDS - 46k).

As for hardware numbers, All systems, except for the PS3, PSP and GBA stayed around their numbers last week, with a +/- 2k range from last week. The PS3 dropped 16k, while still ahead of the Wii, it contrasts the Famitsu numbers. With Heavenly Sword's numbers, it's safe to say that the current PS3 numbers are mainly due to the White 40GB and Musou 5. I'm not informed well enough about upcoming PS3 releases in Japan, but as for the Wii, releases of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and Wii Fit could spark system sales. However, what could very well happen is the PS3 and the Wii having similar weekly numbers for the rest of the year, and the PS3 will probably break the 1 million mark for the year. PSP sales increased by 7k.

Notables:
Heavenly Sword (PS3) debuts in the top 10 at #7, but at 15k units sold.
Five games in the top 10 are new releases, with Heavenly Sword (PS3) and Armored Soldiers: Votoms (PS2) being the two not in the top five.
Castlevania Chronicle drops to #37 after being #6 last week.
