Electronic Art's CEO John Riccitiello, going on some talk from Hollywood folks, says the creators of the Iron Man movie (and presumably those of the game as well) are greatly worried about the release of GTA IV and how it could affect revenue. The game comes out April 29, the movie, April 30.
Speaking to the Financial Times, Riccitiello said "The buzz in Hollywood, which I heard from some Hollywood folks...is people are worried whether Iron Man the movie is going to get killed by Grand Theft Auto the game."
"It feels like what movie moguls might have seen in the 1920s and said: 'Hey, we've got talkies now, where is it going?'" he continued, "I feel like we've stepped through a time window where our games are so compelling and seem so real."

And also, the people who would buy it are probably different to the people who are going to buy GTA IV so it won't make much difference to their sales.
But I doubt the game will affect the opeing weekend for the film. There are people in this world that don't play video games for a living and/or like to go and hang out with friends and/or family. Duh.
The Dark Night is going to far surpass Iron Man. That movie is a blockbuster hit.
