Nickelodeon rakes in one billion

chautemoc | 8 days 3 hours ago | Industry News | Wii DS
THQ has been as successful last year with its Nickelodeon titles (Spongebob, Avatar, etc) as Nintendo was with its DS, taking in over one billion in sales. Obviously happy about it, executive VP of digital media for Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Steve Youngwood left a comment for the press:

"THQ's interactive video games based on our hit shows have continued to help Nickelodeon maintain its position as a leader in gaming entertainment for the family, and we look forward to the addition of these new releases to our library."
Ahead of THQ's Q4 2008 report - which will be released tomorrow - Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter believes that the company can deliver results well above those generated in FY 07 when the company earned pro forma EPS of USD 1.24, but acknowledged that most investors expect continued challenges from THQ's missteps in FY 08.

As a result, Pachter has lowered FY 09 revenue estimates from USD 1.2 billion to USD 1.15 billion and pro forma earnings per share from USD 1.45 to USD 1.25.

Not surprising, many parents may buy a DS or GBA SP just to get their kids one of these games to shut their brats up or the kids with allowance just race out to buy a Spongebob game because that is their favorite show...

Don't leave out Dora and Fairly Odd Parents though, those are all "hit" games for them, along with Jimmy Neutron and all those compilation games.

Woo Spongebob is awesome, even though i'm 14 i still don't mind sitting there watching it in the mornings with my little sister. Also my sister has a DS and she loves it and most games she has are the likes of Spongebob, Bratz etc.

I hate Spongebob, they made him act like some pedophile with the mind of a 5 year old, lately.

I love Avatar. I say they need to make some awesome Avatar games to reflect the pure awesomeness of the Avatar TV Show.

Agreed Zeon. (Not about spongebob) but the avatar series is going great and it should stay that way.
