Fan opinions are split down the middle regarding Silent Hill: Homecoming, with many believing that the new American dev team won't be able to recreate the brilliance of previous games, while others remain optimistic that they will recreate the series into something even better.

But even if Homecoming does end up sucking, at least it will have awesome music!

Akira Yamaoka is returning as the music/sound composer and producer of the game, so expect more of his eerie and emotion filled soundtracks. In a recent interview with Originalsoundversion, Yamaoka spoke about his newest role regarding the making of Homecoming and what it was like working with a foreign development team.

Silent Hill Homecoming is almost upon us. It’s due out on September 30, and we’ve been fortunate to speak with Akira Yamaoka, who is reprising his role as composer and producer, regarding his work on the title. Not only do we discuss a new kind of fear that will be featured in the game, but we also touch on his work habits and his philosophy about games.

Yamaoka confirms that there will be a soundtrack release by the end of September, featuring approximately 70 minutes of music, and even hints at an upcoming project that he belives will be his biggest project to date.

I have alot of faith in american dev teams now alot more than I did back in the last gen systems. It was, at least for me, fewer and far between that there were really good american made games like Ratchet and Clank, or games by Bioware. These days though, there alot of great games made by western game devs so I have faith that this game will still turn out good. As long as they do proper research on the predecesors and whatnot, this game might still turn out good.

Right up with you there. American dev teams have really driven the artistic flare within games as of late, adapting and learning from its Japanese counterparts.

Whilst I think Silent Hill 5 will be dissappointing to many, it will still provide a good experience and have some fresh and likeable ideas for the series. Whether it will continue or not, is debatable. But its good to see american devs taking on a popular series.
