An interview with Resident Evil 5 producer Masachika Kawata reveals that the opening sequence to the game or even the title screen couldn't be played on the Wii (or the PS2 for that matter).

"First of all, and quite obviously, the graphics. Even the title screen of this couldn't have been done on PS2 or Wii. Online co-op as well; the number of enemies you can have on-screen at one time; destructible scenery, physics - we're using Havok this time. We can do more complex stuff with AI; the concern I had in the very beginning is that sometimes an AI partner can become very frustrating. Now she handles fine and you can play through the game without her becoming a frustration. When you see the new stuff you'll say "Oh my God, I can do this and this and this", but you'll probably get used to it quite quickly and then get into the story."

Sounds pretty awesome. I would love to play this game, but the trouble is: I don't have a PS3 or a 360.

I hope my uncle buys this game, since he has a PS3 and he loves Resident Evil games.

If he is an oldie die hard RE fan, than theres still a chance he might buy it just for the story.

I really hope Sheva isn't as annoying as he says she is >.>

Perfect example of why the Wii isn't a next-gen console.

I wouldn't exactly dub it not a next-gen console, but it certainly is not for hardcore gamers.

It was, and always will be, a family console.

I just can't call it one, the technology is 100% last-gen. Even the motion sensitivity isn't exactly "new." When the other two consoles can run a game and the Wii can't even run the opening sequence, we have a problem.

But yes, you're right, it is a family console.

Probably because RE4 worked so well.

Even though RE4 worked out well, you can't expect them to produce a new game that is just on par with the previous installment (or port in this case). It would obviously have to be better, and as is RE4 really pushed the limits of the Wii's hardware to begin with.

I know. I'm trying to answer Zero's question. It's unreasonable, but a lot of fans are.

Still, the Wii version will be significantly inferior, I dont see why fans would want such a shitty version.

And I think most of us knew the Wii power is inferior to PS3 and 360 to begin with. But it not handling the opening sequence is a big LOL in itself.

I would love to get this game to see how much of that is true lol!

Ya right, the gameplay is one thing, the opening sequence is 100% completley different.

    Please capcom, please.
