Looks like that in-game secret wasn't entirely crap after all -- Rare studio manager Mark Betteridge has stated a new Killer Instinct is being considered, but they're not sure how they'd bring it up to date now that fighting games have evolved as much as they have. Great to hear they're not willing to do it half-assed....

"Once a market gets like that then it needs a revolution to bring something new to it and to kick-start a new growth," he said. "It will stagnate for a while and then it needs a real significant change of direction potentially.

"It is a law of diminishing returns to recycle the same game. That's why we didn't want to do that with Banjo just to build a Banjo game that was hi-def. We wanted to do a game that not only provided a different gameplay experience that we couldn't do before, but we wanted to build something that we can then build on to do other titles."

Rare is notorious for teasing fans about forthcoming projects, and recently sparked fresh rumours of Killer Instinct 3 with the release of themed cards for Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise.

Guessing that if this is true and it gets released, it'll be 360 Exclusive as MSoft Own Rare.

      Well naturally.
I think I'll be a very happy gamer if they ever get out of that situation....nothing against the 360, I just wish they had more freedom.

I agree with Chaut. Also it looks like Rare was watching this video about KI3.

Hm so there is a chance that I will end up buying a 360 no matter how much it costs.

    KI3 means a 360 purchase for me.
