Think the Dead Rising Wii port looks woeful and disappointing? Capcom Product Marketing Manager Colin Ferris doesn't think so. In a recent interview with Gamedaily, Ferris explains why gamers shouldn't critisise the company's choice to port the title to the Nintendo Wii ...
Let's get this out of the way: Will DR:CTYD look as beautiful on the Wii as Dead Rising did on the Xbox 360? No. Will it have the same number of zombies on screen at the same time? No. Does that mean we should deny Wii gamers the joy that 360 owners had in surviving three days in a zombie-infested mall? The answer is, obviously, no.
Some claim that the only reason we brought Dead Rising to the Wii was to make money... You're right, we've been caught: We're guilty of being a business. In fact, as a gamer, you should want a brand that you love to be successful, because that increases the chance that we'll make more games. The games business is filled with titles that people love that simply did not make money: Viewtiful Joe. Okami. Zack and Wiki. Capcom as a company has decided to embrace a path that brings our entertainment to as many people as possible. This is why we are, for the most part, following a multi-platform strategy.

Seriously, what Wii owner would be excited about this game?
A stupid one, thats who.
Holy *bleep* you'd make a good politician ;D
The Wii version simply doesn't have that.
We all know it is an inferior game. This Colin guy even admited it in the first paragraph. So the only people that are going to be interested are those that can't or don't get a 360 and still want the game. Everyone else will get a 360 and play the proper game.
Without the ridiculous amount of zombies, it's just another generic zombie shooter.
Like Colin Ferris is saying, the point of Dead Rising is not that you can have one thousand zombies on screen, the point of dead rising is that it's a fun game.
The point of Dead Rising Wii is that it's a fun zombie shooter because that's all Capcom can do with it. Make it into a zombie shooter and hope for the best.
The point of Dead Rising 360 is that's it's a unique and fun game because of the hundreds/thousands of zombies on screen. It was created to show gamers what the 360 was capable of. That was the point of the game.
Capcom could have made a completely new zombie game that plays to the Wii's strengths, but instead they made a heavily edited port of Dead Rising that does nothing but show Wii owners what their console isn't capable of.
Dead Rising on the 360 was a good game. Take out the zombie spamming and you get a mediocre one. It'd be like taking the sneaking out of Metal Gear Solid, or the ability to jump out of Mario.
Look Big A2, weather the game turns out to be good or not is not the point, its that its an inferior port no matter how you look at it. It could still be a "good" game but on a technical level its still going to be inferior to the original, not just in the graphics, but in the core aspect of what was the games main draw, the multiple enemies on screen. That was that games gimick, just like like Dante's gimick is the Devil Trigger, taking it out compromises the original game designs artistic intent.
No matter what you say, or how you want to look at it, this port will SUCK compared to the original, Capcom just feels like you Wiibies are being left out of the loop and decided to throw a crappy port at you.
Congrats!
Better decision = waiting, saving the extra cash, buying a 360.
For the record, I hardly see how getting a job, saving your money, and spending it wisely could ever be considered being "spoiled".
Bought a 360 after seeing a $100 rebate on it. Also got another $116 back after reporting the retailer to the BBB for trying to go back on their rebate offer. So in the end, my 360 Premium cost less than a Wii. There are always ways, if you have the will.
*so proud*
I do like what Gothic Girl said though. Capcom is really trying to sell this game on name alone. They could have easily made a new IP exclusively for the Wii and, you know, really made an effort instead of butchering an existing franchise.
I don't get why people cry about games like thing coming out, to be honest. It doesn't affect any of your lives at all, it opens up the audience for the franchise thereby giving the possibility of a sequel, and most importantly, it gives other people the chance to play the game, regardless of whether it's not longer "how you're supposed to play it."
For those saying that it's a crappy port, you have to remember that the Wii is incapable of doing things that the PS3 and the 360 can.
Now on the Wii you see maybe a dozen enemies on screen. Big deal We can mow those guys down in seconds, then more pop up out of no where. Yuck. That was ok back on the PS2 with games like Dynasty Warriors. But then again Dynasty Warriors your character was completely over powered. You spent more time looking at you and your flashy moves than your enemies. But Frank has no fancy moves. He is just regular guy reporter. So you spend most of the time looking at the zombies. So the pop in is going to be terribly noticable. And frankly quite annoying. No doubt this will be critically panned simply based on the comparison to the 360 version. And the only people that will buy it are those that can't or won't get a 360.
As for coming to the PS3, maybe DR2. But seems unlikely at this point that they would port it to the PS3.
