In an interview with Multiplayer today, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime revealed the company would certainly like Grand Theft Auto to come to the Wii, but they are not willing to do any special favours ($$$) for Rockstar in order to get exclusivity.

MTV Multiplayer: If we’ve gotten to the point where we can have a “Grand Theft Auto” on the DS, how much progress does that bring you guys, Take-Two and gamers to getting a “Grand Theft Auto” on a Nintendo console?

Fils-Aime: I’ve said this — and it may have been in one of your interviews –from the get-go. I as a gamer — and Nintendo as a company — would love to see a new “Grand Theft Auto” on our home console. We think the volume opportunity is there.

To be fair, Rockstar Leeds have made a fantastic game utilising the DS's touch screen controls. I for one would love to see Rockstar develop a GTA for the Wii just to see what new features they could incorporate to take advantage of the Wii's controls

I find it funny seeing the Wii (fake) version being rated MA 15+ like the DS version. I'd love to see GTA on the Wii, it gives a chance for those players to have a go with this wonderful series.

    Got distracted by this.....

MTV Multiplayer: “Fatal Frame 4,” published by Nintendo in Japan. There’s been confusion and mixed signals about whether that’s coming to America.

Fils-Aime: We are not the publisher of that title in the Americas. So I can’t comment on it… I don’t know if it has a publisher.
*bleep*ing hell Nintendo. Make up your goddamn mind.

Nintendo want a GTA exclusively on the Wii.
    Fair enough.

Nintendo won't pay for said exclusivity.
    Good *bleep*ing luck.

Reggie's right when he saids paying a company for an exlusive is not the way to go though. It's just Take-Two's way of making more money, and Ninendo shouldn't support it.

They shouldn't. He is right. But it's plainly and simply the way it is, and if Nintendo think they'll get anything worth-while for the Wii without coughing up, they are delusional. I'm not saying it's a good thing, never even hinted at that, I'm just saying that's how it is, and the fact Nintendo are even suggesting an exclusive GTA without offering money for it is laughable.
