Square Enix president and CEO, Yoichi Wada, has told GamesIndustry.biz that he believes his company takes too long to produce new games, and that cost performance and quality are not mutually exclusive facets in game production.

"In reality I think the issues we have are basically the same. On one side you might say that because of the budgetary constraints they released the games without having the games polished to perfection, but on the other side we take too long to release the game.

I don't care how long they take, in fact, I don't care how long any gaming company takes to develop a game...just make it worth the wait, make it the best they can. A lot of companies have to sacrifice aspects of their games due to the budget and time they have to work with it. SE gets to work at their own pace, so their games should come out decent enough.

I really don't care about this much. Yeah, it'll be cool if they can give me KH: BBS and FF: Agito XIII soon, but I just want the games to be good. Take time, but make good games. Then I'll be happy.

Nice to see they've acknowledged the fact and taken it on board though.

Hopefully things will go smoother once they've got Crystal Tools working properly.

All I'm asking for is simultaneous world-wide releases!!

I know. For example, Japan gets Super Smash Brothers Brawl in Winter, the US gets it in Spring, and poor Australia and Europe doesn't get the game until Summer and Fall of the same year. Everyone was already talking about the game on Neo, and those who didn't get it yet already new quite a lot about SSBB's many flaws, which ruined their anticipation a bit.

I say they take a long time to make a quality game, and then release it simultaneously (or at least within a few weeks)

I have a new respect for Square Enix for admitting this.

All they need to do is announce games later on in their development.

Or they can just be typical Square Enix and get the hype machine rolling early.

Doesn't matter how long they take. I'd prefer a game that's not rushed.
