Though previously it seemed Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima wouldn't have much involvement in the next full-scale installment, according to an interview with Japanese magazine Dengeki, he'll actually be "working more deeply on the project than a normal producer.”

Additionally, Kojima stated, "It’s a completely different kind of action than what has appeared in the series so far.”

        But stealth is good.

Pfft to whatever action-y game they end up creating.

But after 8 kajillion action games, we want stealth, which they've been providing. Ironically many MGS fanboys/girls will consider this Kojima stabbing us in the back

Metal Gear Rising: Lightning Bolt Action
I'm not joking either, thats what it is.

He ain't lyin' ^ It's obvious it's an action game, but what exactly does the Lightning Bolt bit entail? If it truly does deviate from the Metal Gear Solid formula that much, should it really be dubbed as a Metal Gear Solid game? That isn't to say that it'll be a bad game, I'm just wondering about the discrepency between the implications of the title, and the game itself.

Raiden is Japanese for thunder and lightning. Lighting Bolt Action = Ninja Raiden Action. Kojima would never let something not stealth be Metal Gear Solid so I think changing Solid with Rising is his way of showing that.

Actually the game is titled Metal Gear Solid: Rising...so yes, it is still of the Solid Series.

For a while I've been trying to help him come to terms with the truth, as my old GG ID, so he can either just be a proper fanboy or stop altogether, since this half'n'half denial thing is annoying..

As you can see it hasn't gone well.

To be fair, many Metal Gear Solid titles have featured on non-sony platforms. Kojima loves the Playstation and thus, I guess the series is regarded as "theirs", but MG, MG2, MGG, MG:SR all launched on Non-sony platforms. Twin Snakes for the Gamecube. MGS1 for the PC as well. MGS2 for the PC and XBOX. MGS3 and MGS4 are Playstation exclusives but you need to wake up and see that Metal Gear Solid - has long been stolen and shared around.

And who really cares!? I for one really hoped MGS4 for hit the 360. Kojima would be blessed with more profit and quite frankly, the MGS4 experience that great that its a shame when fellow gamers miss out on it. This blatent hugging of ones console and defending a flipping machine to the death is really quite pathetic. But hey its the recession. You people need something to do when your unemployed..

I've never played any MGS game at all.

I must say that this whole MGS: Rising and Kojima's involvement with it has me so confused on what's going on!

He's somewhere in between producer and director.
      The end.

That's it? Well sheesh you could have at least made it sound complicated and everything . . . at least make me feel a little bit better!

          Shinobi_razor Jun 16, 09
he's the equivalent of director in video game terms which usually called Project Lead or something like that. he's the same deal as Peter Molyneux really. he says what gets to happen and what doesnt.

BTW Servant you should play at least MGS1 and 3. but play 2 for the story even though the gameplay is pretty crappy TBH. i need to play #4 actually but its supposed to be great.

If I stopped being "fanboyish" altogether, would it really stop you guys from hating me? No, it wouldn't. You'd just wait for me to say something fanboyish and attack it all over again. Doesn't matter how I act, you'll regard me the exact same way. You're just prejudiced like that. I was acting fine up until a couple weeks ago (admittedly), but I got razzed for the smallest things like it always was. So you see, you can tell me to quit all you like, it won't change how you react.

Oh, so you're a diamond and we're all just complete dick heads? You do nothing wrong but everyone here hates you?

    Red 9 Jun 15, 09
That is exactly the sh*t I'm talking about ^

. I ain't no frakking diamond, what I meant was that most of you seem to react to my posts in the same way regardless.

The Art of War Jun 15, 09
You just called us, and in effect me, prejudiced and, even though you didn't say it directly, ignorant.

That warranted the response I gave; you know it did, so don't cry about it.

And that's bullshit. Utter bullshit. All I've seen is people call you a fanboy when you act like a fanboy. I don't see anyone bullying you and calling you a fanboy when you're not acting like a fanboy, so you either just don't recognise when you're being a fanboy (which confirms you are one) or you're talking our of your ass.

So, if you don't like being called a fanboy just stop acting like a fanboy altogether. This passive aggresive 'everyone hates me' bullshit is just plain crap and the only one it's affecting is you, so give it up.

I'm Tiger of Wu. This is my sisters account, which she's letting me use because she doesn't give two shits about Gamegrep. The reason I'm using it is because I was banned for 'instigating arguments with carouselambra', which effectively translates to telling Avalith to grow a dick and him not liking it.

I personally feel Kojima had no choice here. Metal Gear Solid will be made with or without him so to give the game a fighting chance of being good he had no choice but to be involved heavily.

    Dine_Agoti Jun 16, 09
Personally, I'm pretty optimistic about MGS: Rising. It might not be the typical MGS experience, but something different is appreciated every now and then.

    Seeker X Jun 16, 09
EVERY MGS game has brought something new to the table. And it's hella early to actually start dissing it for dumbass reasons. "Oh raidenz shit". christ, I thought we were past this in MGS2. Raiden's a godamned Ninja that controls lightning and kicks serious ass without his arms, wtf do you people NEED? Does he need to bring people from the DEAD before he's considered acceptable?
    • 0
      Hideo1 Jun 16, 09
Personally my only problem with them having Raiden as the main is that so far all signs are pointing towards mindless slasher action instead of the classic Stealth style. I can take or leave Raiden but Ninja Raiden fighting gekkos for ten levels doesn't float my boat...unless if it's in a cutscene.

That said I hope they make it more stealthy then I'm thinking but it doesn't look that way, especially with Lightning Bolt Action as the tagline and the quote at the top of the comments.

He just won't let it go will he? Kojima's going to be making Metal Gear games until the sheer amount of plot twists he's orchestrated breaks his brain.
    • 0
      Daweii Jun 16, 09
He'll keep making Metal Gear until the fans stop pressuring and Konami stop forcing him.
      • 0
        Hideo1 Jun 16, 09
Some fans pressure, yes, but Konami don't force him to at all. Why, might I ask, do you say that? And many fans want MGS to die dignified whilst it's still at the level of epicness that it is.

The truth is Kojima just has a hard-on for Metal Gear Solid that he isn't quite over yet.

Didn't he say last week that he would be leaving most of Rising to the junior devs, and would be playing only a supervising role himself?

    Make up your mind, Kojima.
