Starforce has been largely out of the digital rights management (DRM) vending game for awhile now, having suffered some major backlash for their technology implemented into PC games as well as their public relations approach several years ago.
As of today it seems they are back, and with a fresh approach to protecting games, one unlike before when "the end user was partly forgotten", as Dmitry Guseff, Deputy Marketing Director says in this interview with Gamasutra.
It's an interesting read, with a lot of imperative questions and direct answers, so check it out if you're curious -- just take it with a grain of salt or two, of course.
Why do you think StarForce's new anti-piracy measures will rebuild the company's reputation?
I think that new products, excellent customer service, and the right combination between publisher and customer needs will help. We have seriously worked on our errors and offered new solutions. Now we need to receive more feedback to be able to say something specific and continue with improvements. But based on our Russian and Eastern European experiences, both publishers and customers are very delighted with our new steps.
